Been primarily toting my 6mm-06 lately, but decided to knock the dust off the ol' 257 for yesterday's evening deer hunt. After sitting in the blind for 2 hours and not seeing a thing, this guy comes strolling up to the feeder. I'll normally let a hog walk if I'm deer hunting, but being this one was a little bigger than average and also not having bloodied the 257 in a while, I decided to send a 115 Ballistic Tip his way. In typical 257 Wby fashion, he hit the deck at the sound of the shot. Kicked a little and that was it. The bullet entered at the base of his neck. No exit. Distance was 133 yds. We estimated the weight to be 250ish. Great reminder of why I love the 257 Roy. It just flat hammers game.
