.358 hornady 180gr interlock ssp

I was wondering why hornady stopped production of this particular bullet? My guess was lack of interest but im not sure, just wanted to see what everyone else thought?

I've been trying to get speer's 2435, 180g hot core .358 for over a year now to load in my 2 35 rems. Good luck, for some reason none of the manufactures want to produce bullets they offer for sale

They didn't stop producing it - they only make them according to demand. I shoot the Hornady 180grn SSP Interlock 3505 bullet and the 180grn Speer Hot Cor 2435 out of one of my Redhawks, both are "seasonal" or "by demand" production bullets. They're a specialty bullet, not really high demand, so they don't make them very often. Midway discontinued them, but they'll pop up again next year when Hornady releases more.

I ordered 300 of the Hornady's a few weeks ago from a shop in Indiana, they said they had 1200 more left - I was tempted to buy all of them at the time.

Place orders where you can find them available for backorder, that drives Hornady and Speer to produce them.

I haven't seen these offered for a couple years now. i bought 6 boxes a number of years ago and i don't waste them on just shooting anymore as i don't know if i can replace them.

Midway isn't Hornady - Midway discontinues CARRYING anything that they have "overdue" for over 1yr, and that has no bearing on whether the product itself has been discontinued by the manufacturer - only that Midwayusa no longer offers it.

Call Hornady and ask them yourself - the 3505 .358" Spire Point Single Shot Pistol 180grn has NOT been discontinued - it's a demand driven production product.

"Hornady is Discontinuing the .358 180gr single shot pistol bullets #3505
I contacted them inquiring as if and when they would be producing them and was told they had no plans to make anymore.
This is sad news for 357max shooters and 35cal shooters as well"

I contacted Hornady myself:

Hello, I was curious about bullet #3505 the .358" 180gr SSP bullet. I have heard it is just on a limited run basis and I have also heard that the bullet has been discontinued? I am curious if the #3505 has been discontinued?

Thanks

Heath

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately our SKU#3505 35cal 180gr SP/SSP bullet has been discontinued and we no longer have any left in stock. We suggest that you might try our SKU#3510 35cal .358 200gr SP bullet instead.

Thank you again.
