We are planning to have 3 egg shoot contests during the 2016 PM Convention. The egg shoots will be held at the Three Points Shooting Range. The 3 contests consist of the traditional Predator Masters Egg Shoot, the Predator Masters Championship Cup, and the Youth Egg Shoot.

Predator Masters Egg Shoot:

2016 Contest Rules:

Contestants will be comprised of registered members of Predator Masters that are participants of the Annual Convention during which the Egg Shoot will be held. The Egg Shoot will be on the Saturday, February 13 of the 2016 Convention.

Past first place winners will not be eligible for this competition.

This is what is allowed.

1. A rifle weighing no more than 13 pounds complete with any attachments used at the firing line and its ammo. The scope will be limited to a max setting of 15 power while on the line.

2. A shooting stool, pad, or similar device that would be considered customary in a calling stand application.

3. A set of shooting sticks that are hinged, 2 legs, not attached to the rifle in any way, and are customary for a calling stand application.

4. Buttstock of rifle will rest against the shooters shoulder only. No support from the backrest of chair will be allowed.

5. If you use a chair to sit on and it has an armrest, your arms are not allowed to wrap around or rest on chair as extra support.

6. Slings will be allowed, but they will not be used to lash your shooting sticks to your gun.

7. Your own spotter if so desired (there was more than enough spotting scopes at the shoot to acquire a spotter for each lane). Each shooter should have his own guy spotting for him. This will cut down on a lot of confusion.

8. All range rules will also apply and be briefed before the match.

All decisions made by Range Master the day of the shoot are final.

The format will be as follows.

For the first 3 rounds you will be shooting with up to 5 other shooters. Magazines may be loaded upon command, but the action can not be closed till the fire command is given. The clock will start at the fire command.

All shots will be taken at a distance of 150 yards. Your first time to the line you will have 5 minutes to fire 5 shots. If the egg is broke in your lane at the end of the time limit, you will advance to the second round.

In the second round you will have 1 1/2 minutes to fire 3 shots. If the egg breaks in your lane you will advance to the third round.

In the third round you will have 30 seconds to fire one shot. If the egg is broke in your lane you advance to a shoot off.

Shoot off rules.

Each shooter will be allowed one shot firing in rotation. You will have 30 seconds to take the shot. This is an elimination shoot off.

Ritch's Precision Guns is custom building an AR-15 rifle to give away to the first place winner!!

The contest is conducted the same way as the traditional egg shoot. The winner receives a traveling trophy and a trophy to keep. The traveling trophy gets passed around to the new winner each year and has the names of all the past Championship Cup winners on it. The new winner gets their name added to the Championship Cup trophy.

The first place winners of past Predator Masters Egg Shoots are as follows:

Youngsters will be shooting 22 caliber rimfire rifles at chicken eggs set up at 50 yards. The rifles and ammo will be provided for the kids by Predator Masters. We will have trophies for first, second, and third place.

so I didn't see a caliber restriction or action restriction. Does that mean a caliber of your choice 204 to 338 Lapua, semi auto, bolt, single shot etc

That's right. No caliber, cartridge, or action restrictions, at least by Predator Masters. The range might restrict the upper end though.

It is typically a rifle that would be used for predator hunting. I really doubt anyone is using a 338 and am not sure the range will allow on the area we are using. I would question someone that showed up wanting to use one and probably not allow it.

It is not on the 500m range. It is a 200 yd I believe. It is range #6. What tricked out bench rifles are you referring to? There are not really any bench rifles used. Shooting off the shooting sticks evens things out and the bench rest rifles just don't sit in the sticks very good.

I've only shot in it three years and it has been won with regular hunting rifles every time that I can think of.

Your limited in weight and scope power plus you have to shoot off of sticks in a regular hunting seat or sitting on the ground and can.t use the seat to support your arms. It pretty much levels the ground and everyone on the internet has a sub 1/2 MOA all day rifle. I've always made it out of the first round but never the second and I still look forward to it.

It is fun, wouldn't miss it, it is one of the highlights of the trip. Coyotes I can kill anywhere, the Convention and the Egg Shoot are the fun parts for me.

They're right, I thought I had no chance, and ended up winning it in Las Cruces in 2011 with a cheap Stevens .223 with a BSA Catseye scope. Probably as cheap a rig as has won it, so don't let that keep you out of it. As long as your rifle is capable of egg sized groups at 150 yds it all comes down to the shooter then.
The biggest keys for me were trust in my rifle and keeping myself calm. I got lucky and was steady that day and thankfully the wind wasn't too bad.

I just hope that I can afford to go back one day. The whole trip was the most fun I've ever had. Even if I hadn't won the egg shoot the rest of the trip was amazing.

Would like to see you make it again Kris. When you do, you will be shooting with all the other past champions for the bragging rights of being the best of the best for that year.
