Well, bless his little heart.

‘Offended’ flea market shopper calls 911 over Confederate merchandise
July 12, 2015 By Olaf Ekberg

A shopper perusing the merchandise at the Redwood Country Flea Market was so offended by a vendor selling Confederate and Nazi historical memorabilia, the person actually called 911.

Wallingford, Connecticut police were dispatched to the flea market to investigate.

The police chief William Wright tells News 8 “the reason no one was arrested was because the items were being sold on private property” — not to mention no laws were broken.

“There was a table set up with this material,” Wright says, according to Journal-Record. “It’s not criminally illegal, but obviously it offended this person. It causes some people a sense of being uncomfortable. Certainly the owner could preclude this merchandise.”

The town resident who called 911 said there were helmets with swastikas, images of Hitler and other historical Nazi items.

“I was shaking and almost vomiting, he tells the paper. “I had to run. My grandmother had numbers,” referring to the digits the Nazis would tattoo on prisoners.

The caller complained that the Confederate items were “not authentic” and were replicas of flags and weapons.

He says the seller told him “he was selling so much he can’t keep it in stock.”

Jason Teal, president of the Meriden-Wallingford NAACP, was contacted to see what he thought.

“It’s difficult because it’s on private property and it’s considered free speech,” Teal says.

According to the paper, the complainant also called Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr., who promptly called Chief Wright.

“I had to check with the chief over what is actionable and what isn’t,” according to the mayor. “Unless something violates state or federal law, there’s no jurisdiction for government to do anything. We had to ask, is it something controlled by law?”

And the assistant regional director of the Anti-Defamation League in Connecticut sees a difference between authentic memorabilia and “cheap replicas” “used as symbols of hate.”

“It’s unfortunate that under the law people have the right to sell these things; but it doesn’t mean they should sell these things,” Joshua Sayles says.

“It’s not a crime but I would call it hate. People look at the situation in Charleston and say it’s down in the South. But this stuff is here in Connecticut.”

You do not, I repeat do not, have an intrinsic right to not be offended or to be "comfortable" at all times. Don't like something, leave. It's such a shame that Americans are going out of their way to be offended just so they can make a big deal about it.

It is such a shame that he was shaking and almost vomitting; what he should have been was [beeep] slapped and had his [beeep] kicked!

Not to mention he should have been cited for phoning in a nuisance call.

What kind of flea markets do they have up there. Who would have thought people might be selling most anything at a flea market. Getting so a feller can't go anywhere. Good thing he wasn't selling battle flags.

When we have "men" calling 911 over trinkets at a flee market, and are taken seriously and not sited for being stupid and calling 911, I just don't know what to say anymore..

Something has got to give.

You have to remember; Society has a lot of people walking around in altered states of reality, with no point of reference... You will notice a lot of these people on the exit and entrance ramps to free-ways... Some have even been provided shelter where they can just set there, slobber and rub their own feces in there hair, un-interrupted... Pay attention to short busses, sometimes you will see them licking windows while wearing a helmet...

As I get older, I find that I'm offended by something almost every day. I'm offended that I have to get up at night and pee, sometimes twice. I'm offended that the local Mennonite's horses crap in the road and I have to drive thru it. I'm offended when I see some "man" wearing their pants so low that their underwear is showing. I'm offended when I see people parking with handicapped tags on their car, and then they can move a lot better than I do, and practically run over me trying to beat me in Walmart. I'm offended by all the current uproar over the Confederate flag. I'm offended that the liberal run news media gives Democrats a pass on everything, while holding Republicans accountable. I'm offended by a lot of things, but I don't call 911, I just let my wife know how I feel. However, I'm starting to feel offended that she tells me to shut up.

He was shaking so badly and nearly vomiting that he had time to engage the seller about the quantity of items being sold?

He also commented on the low quality of the Civil war stuff. Made up outrage.

The whole situation is just amazing.

How you can look at anything in history of socialism or communism, one would see that when those in power don't like you for what ever reason, it doesn't matter if you were a supporter or not, you were murdered..

Do these people that see freedom they want, and yet, because they are offended want to silence and more to ban their views and beliefs, they were screaming to get, and yet are all to happy to do it to someone else.

How can someone that rails against jim crow laws, then support the selective application of freedoms and also the institutional inforcement to make it OK for your group and not the others.

I hated it and protested it when it was me on the recieving end, now want to inflict that same treatment that i protested on you.

When is it going to be time for the city of detroit to take down the Black power symbol????

When are they going to take the obviously black power symbol down from public land?

It offends me.

I'm offended that we seem to be ofended by the same crap

But it's so much fun to feed your LEO buddies a few beers and have them relate a few stupid people stories to you around the campfire!!

I think we are missing the important detail here. Do you realize they just gift wrapped their Achilles heel and kryptonite? Just sprinkle crumbs of fake relics around your yard and workplace and like garlic to vampires POOF, projectile vomit everywhere! If they are busy being nauseous they won't have time to be offended by normality and common sense.
