Sometimes firearms companys DO listen.............

I love Ruger pistols, but never had much luck with rifles shooting MOA or better. Now that I reload, I'll give them another look.

American looks like a knock-off of the Savage Axis

It may have been designed to compete with the Axis, but I'd not say it looks like a "knockoff", design-wise.

I'd much rather the American than an Axis.....

I have been a fan of the American line since I first held one a little over a year ago. The American is not that similar to an axis other than the price. I had never been that big of fan of Rugers but the American has turned me into a fan. I prefer the marksman trigger to the accu-trigger, I also like the stock on the Ruger alot better than most rifles in this price range. The fast twist barrels are also a big plus, 1 in 10 for the 250 and 1 in 8 for the 223, not many factory rifles out there that don't have a 1 in 14 or 1 in 12.

Well, looks like you have the "shine." Maybe you can let me know at which casino/machine the next megabucks jackpot will hit?

I love my Ruger American in 7mm-08. Wears a Simmons but maybe next holiday season I'll ask for a Redfield scope!

I remember asking about that spec not too long ago on here (don't remember which forum) but someone had posted that the 1 in 10" twist for the .22-250 was a misprint - that the twist was indeed slower. I think a 10 twist would be super.

Quite positive it is a 1 in 10 twist I'm pretty sure. Unless I am mistake it's the TC Venture that was misprinted originally on the website.

It's a 1:10, had one and sold it, magazine rattled around like a Mossberg shotguns forearm, extractor claw never did slide to side easy making it hard to close bolt but it shot good with factory ammo , 3/4" inch, the action unloaded was pretty smooth for a cheaper gun, should've kept it but had the urge to buy my wife her first gun.

If given the chance and the money I'd buy another in .223 just for cheap ammo, I did like this gun better than the Axis I owned

You're right! I got them mixed up.

The more I shoot my American 223 the more I am overlooking the cheap aspects of the rifle. It's a decent shooting gun. The trigger is ok, I'm going to be adjusting for a lighter pull as it came a little stiff from factory but breaks crisp. I've been shooting one inch +\- with 60 gr vmax and 53 gr smk. and 25gr 4064. The barrel does not heat up real fast for a pencil barrel and cools quicker than I expected. It is a fun rifle to shoot, and a better rifle than the axis in every category IMO.

If nobody else is going to say it, I guess I will...

Is it not fair to think that someone with Ruger might have seen your post and said, "hey, that doesn't sound like a bad idea!"

I first read the title to say "I think I might be a prophylactic"

Upon opening I realized my mistake.

I have nothing to add.

Entirely possible. I would imagine most firearms companies have employees that peruse the more well known forums looking for ideas. Companies can use forums for free market research, for new ideas for product innovations and a source for customer feedback on their products.

Or they came to the same conclusions independently in this case, either way seems like a good marketing scheme to me.
