53 gr Barnes tsx and the 62 gr sp has been putting them down. Getting pass throughs and two drt. 100 pounder shot in the head with barnes got complete pass through and exited abdomen. 62 gr sp made short work of a 200 lber with nice teeth. Last night struck again with complete skull penetration and shut the lights out on the run.

I just ordered 5 boxes today from able ammo they have my interest also. Supposed to be comparable to the tsx just 20 dollars cheaper per twenty

I have been handloading 70 grain Barnes TSX exclusively for the last three years now and have taken about 200 hogs up to 450 pounds with them at ranges to 225 meters, they are the only thing that will penetrate the shield.

I have some 62 grain TSXs so will try them out, the extra 250fps velocity should be nice.

The 70's mushroom perfectly at ranges of 50-200 meters.

Here is a 70 grain Barnes TSX handload recovered from a hog hit @ 175 yards:

Recovered bullet weighed 69.9 grains, so basically zero fragmentation.

Must have at least a 1:7 inch twist to be able to stabilize this LONG bullet, and don't forget it is spinning about 220,000 rpms....

Found the limits of the 223 last night. I shot a monster at about 225 yds. Felt good about the shot it must have not penetrated enough. He was big curly haired and caked with mud. We looked for 2 hours last night. Going to try again today but I got a feeling he made it out ok. Tons of scenarios play through my mind in times like this. Have I shot a hog that big with a 223? Yes. Have I shot a pig at that distance? Absolutely. But Never have the size and distance been so not in my favor. As a hunter I do try to recover everything I kill. And I feel bad when I don't. But I felt I made an ethical shot and hope to find him piled up under a cedar.

Off the same property today heavy dose of NyQuil delivered by 160 gr of 7mm-rum

Pick up another place down the road all wheat fields. Shot 5 in the last two days. Here's the two of the 3 that I shot tonight. Third was another sow I knocked her down but got up and ran off while I shot the others. 55 gr gmx is a good one.
