I have a 6 year old son and for his bday he wants a new game thing.

So I have looked at them all including the new wii, just wanting some input.

Wii would be good for his age. Fun and it'll keep him active compared to other consoles. I'm an Xbox 360 fan myself but for a 6 year old my vote is the Wii.
 
In my experience a 4+ year old with a little guidance can operate any of them. The 360 and kinect are pretty cool and my 4 year old can operate it with a little help to get stared.
