Okay Guys,
I see the natives are getting restless!
Who ----- All registered Predator Masters members
What ----- Predator Masters 2003 Mid-Winter Hunt
When ---- Saturday, Feb. 01, 2003 (And Sunday iffen ya want)
Where ----- Gas City, Benson, AZ
The "Mid-Winter" hunt will commence from the parking lot of Gas City. Gas City is located at Exit 302, the intersection of I-10 and Arizona State Hwy 90. The exit signs will say Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca. The exit is located on the west end of the town of Benson. Benson is approximately 40 miles SE of Tucson.
We'll all meet at Gas City at 6:30 A.M. This place is a full service truck stop / store/ A&W root beer /pizza hut /etc. Located directly across the street is a KFC, Taco Bell, Subway, and McDonald's(gagggg!). Anyway, you can fill up your trucks and get a cup of joe in your blood to knock the last cobweb out of your eyes before it turns seriously daylight.
We'll circle the wagons on the south end of the big lot that the tractor trailers park in.
We'll pair up and hunt until noonish, meet back there for a midday meal/b.s. session, then pair up with somebody else and hit it til last light.
The day's activities will be whatever you feel like doing.
The following folks are familiar with the area and are planning on pairing up with the guys from other locales. There is plenty of prime coyote country available, so you probably won't run into anybody else you know during the day. Cochise County is the size of Rhode Island and Connecticut combined. Only 40% of the land is privately or corporately owned. But of course, some of the 'good" land is private. So goes it.

Kevin Bowler (Onefoot)

If any other locals are available to guide, let us know. (Tiogan??)
Some of the other southwest hunters will probably be comfortable enough to strike out on their own with just a quick map consultation.
Anybody planning on staying over Saturday night to hunt on Sunday is more than welcome to do so. Onefoot and I will both be available to hunt on Sunday if guide type services are needed.
As is always the case, there is no fee for anything at a PM hunt. Just good hunting and good times.
If anybody is planning on staying at a motel during their stay, be advised.....Tucson is hosting the world's biggest Gem & Mineral Show during the period we are going to be hunting.
That means if you want to book a room in Benson, you better do it soon. Rates will not be discounted during that time and they are going to be filled up in the next week or so.
Sierra Vista is only 25 miles down the road, so you still have that lodging option if you need to exercise it. There should be plenty of rooms in S.V. Prices will probably be less in S.V. too.
I checked on the rates at a few of the motels in Benson. All of these are 2 to 10 minutes from Gas City.

If anyone is planning on bringing a camper (Barefoot), I can put you up at my place, and Onefoot has extended the same offer. I have an acre and a fenced backyard with an RV gate. Power is available, just bring an extension cord and you will be set. The house (kitchen, bath, etc.) is, of course, open to you also. As I mentioned, Onefoot has also extended the same invitation for his place, so the choice is yours. (P.S. Onefoot has about 15 kids.

) We both live in the county, so it's not like you are are going to be camping on Main St.
Terrain --- 3500 in the valleys to 10,000 ft mountains. Most areas will be mesquite mixed with yucca and grass lands. Mostly rolling hills with terrain getting more rugged as you approach mountain ranges.
If you are a ladder shooter, there are plenty of areas that would lend themselves to those with that particular fetish
Most roads are pretty good, and 4WD is not necessary for mere mortals.
There is public land consisting of BLM, national forest and state trust land. Some private land, primarily ranch land, is accessible and clearly marked as such. Some private land is posted.
Here is a link that will give you a general feel for the area. I think you will really like the area if you make it down for this hunt.
Cochise County, Arizona Weather could be anything from 20 degrees with blowing snow, to 70 degrees and sunny. Dress accordingly.

Here's a bold prediction for all of you that are vacillating about whether or not you are going to make it to the hunt.
I PREDICT THAT THERE WILL BE MORE COYOTES PUT DOWN ON THE 1ST OF FEBRUARY THAN WERE SHOT AT LAST YEAR'S TOM MIX HUNT AND THIS YEAR'S GLOBE HUNT COMBINED!
If you bust loose for one hunt this year, this is the one you want to make it to.
