The time I spent in Globe will not soon be forgotten. Meeting those who I have chated with on the board and learning from them will be invaluable to me.
The 30th, I hunted with
Duane@ssu because his partner was not able to make it that day. What Michael McCasland said in his post is true. Duane is a deticated and hard core hunter. The pig story they both told was too funny.
Duane called in a Javalina boar and a coyote the first stand. I had never seen a mouth called used in the field and Duane did a fine job of showing how it's done.
However about the time I was fixin to shoot the coyote, my hunting partner Bill Rice showed up looking for me, (a simple communication error)the coyote was in the wind.
That was the last coyote I saw for 3 days. However Bill in his soft spoken way and easy going manner, tried everything he could to find us critters. Luck was not on our side. It made no difference to me, as I learned alot from Bill and he was the second real coyote hunter I'd hunted with in 4 years of calling. Duane was the first. Thank you Duane for sharing your experiences and showing your funny wit about you. It was a pleasure to say the least.
Bill and Duane both built up my confidence is using mouth calls, while I was with them. I was pretty much and ecaller till I came to Globe, not anymore.
For those of you who don't believe in ladder hunting, well let me say it can work. Michael McCasland the night I met him, gave me a demonstration upon request and I was impressed. It was a pleasure Michael (not Mike)to spend the time talking with you.
I was convinced it was another tool and clearly away to work heavy brush, when I watched Bill set up his ladder and work his calls. The way Bill set up, he clearly blended in with the surroundings. It is not really the hassle you think to carrying and set up.
Even though Bill almost won all the guns and I slipped him a note with the word
AS@#*&% written on the back, he proved that he was a true gentleman and put one of the guns back in the pot for someone else to win. Bill thank you for your time it was a pleasure.
For Critr and Jason and the time we talked and for all the time you spent putting this thing together, I thank you both very much.
Bill Gardner you have a generous heart and a fine personality sir, thank you. Thank you for what you and Tasha have done in help keeping this website open. Tasha your a lucky lady.
Bill as far as your friend Todd, who hunts baar's and deeers and drinks beeer, please bring him along next time too. Todd is was fun talking to you and you made me laugh more than once with your stories.
Rita and Matt, it was nice to meet you finally. It was moving during Bill's reading of Will's vision. I'll never forget that! Thank you for carrying on Will's wish.
Encore and Big Jerk it was a pleasure to finally meet you two funny guys.
22-250 you are the man driving all the way from home to Globe, not sleeping and then going on 19 stands the same day. Glad your boy got his first coyote.
Bvomark it was a pleasure to talk to you about your kind of hunting and fishing back home.
Robb thanks for your hard work in putting this hunt together and I still wouldn't wear shorts like you do in cold weather.
Craig Hamilton your a true cowboy and gentleman and it was an honor to speak with you. Hopefully next year I will get a chance to hunt with you.
Wiley thanks for your instruction on hunting and calling coyotes. If I was alot bigger than you, I would of made you do some real mouth callin and had you howl like you did for Critr.
Nasa, TJ, Tackdriver, Mike, Randy, Kevin, Onefoot, I was glad to have crossed paths with you all.
And for those of you I did not talk with, I'm the one that probably missed out.
Hopefully next year will be bigger yet.
