Broke in the new Tenpoint xbow tonight.

I was asked to kill deer and not hunt trophy bucks in this spot. After passing on many, I think the landowner was not so happy. So I brightened her day a bit.

It was important that I anchor the deer and not let it make it on to neighbors property. So I made sure to bust a shoulder. At the right angle, of course.

She went maybe 35-40 yds and died 40 yds from the property line. It was too dark to find my arrow/broadhead

Gutted her with a good old, vintage, Schrade 160 OT. Blade is still wicked sharp.......

Thanks guys.

Stii have the Spitfire 100s. Seem to have worked better than the last one. I need to go back in a couple days and find that arrow.

Tomorrow looks like a skinning/ butchering day.....

I was thinking.........up until I started crossbow hunting, I never had any kind of a scope on a bow. Being I was viewing the shot at 4X, I could really see the blood spray all over when the broadhead met it's mark. This is something I had not ever witnessed before last year. Seeing arrow/ broadhead performance(impact shots) through a scope........

Well, I found the arrow. When I picked it up, 2 blades were about halfway deployed, and 1 blade did not open at all. However, it was in remarkably good shape, given the shot.

It's hard to argue with the performance, but I'm still just not sure how much I like these Spitfires. I have had 2 blades open 2/3 way - 1/2 way, and 4 blades not open at all, out of six.....

It's hard to beat fixed blades, IMO. I never got into the mechanicals. Although, the Schwackers are supposed to be great. And the T-3s from g-7, but I've not tried any of them, personally.

I don't know. Critters are dying, but the 4/6 thing kinda bugs me still.

With some 4 blade slick tricks, I know all 8 blades would have made contact.

Again, hard to argue with the damage that was done, but.........

Ken,
Did the broadhead hole in the deer show the head not to have opened ? Got thinking about what you were saying and I have seen the blade get semiclosed after exiting a deer before. Shot a buck at the base of the ear once and the broaded head broke the opposite jaw . The arrow stayed the the deer, but the abrupt stop closed a blade or 2 ,IIRC.

I can't be certain on the last one. 2 blades opened at least half way and I believe one never opened at all.

On other deer, none opened....
