I use a 52 BTHP bullet loaded to around 3600 fps. It is not screaming, but dead accurate.
I have only had a couple bullets make a mess. Usually it is one .22 caliber hole in, and jelly inside. No exit hole.
It has worked very well for me.
I have not had that kind of response from .223.
A .22-250 will increase your effective range. It is a very capable deer cartridge with appropriate bullets(ok, maybe a little small if you are a purist, but I would have to tell that to all the deer that I have killed with it to get their opinon...)much more so than a .223.
It is extremely accurate cartridge to load for, and has great ballistics and flexibility.
Pretty hard to beat for coyotes and other predators, and smaller eatables...
As for Whitaker's Guns in Kentucky...a big thumbs up. They are wonderful. That is a great price on a 700 VSSF and would make a fantastic rifle for coyotes. I would snag it up.
