Schrades on parade.......

These remain some of my favorite blades. Nothing fancy, they just work. The carbon blades are awesome.

I have a whole bunch more Schrades, but these are a few of my favorite fixed blades.

EVERYBODY should buy one of these 3 while they still can. They are all classics with great carbon blades and nearly indestructable handles:

The USA made sheaths are great also. The newer Chinkwanese ones suck, as does the steel:

I like my Sharpfingers as well. One of these I have had since I was 9 yrs old. Ain't hard to tell which one. The Chinkwanese one I reshaped the blade and rehandled. If you notice, the snap on the sheath already broke off, and the new one I installed says "BUCK" on it. The other 2 are 440C blanks that I handled up and put in older USA made sheaths. The quality of the older sheaths vs. the new is readily apparent:

Well, I guess due to my crappy pics you can't see the snap that says "BUCK" on it. But anyway, it broke off after the one and only time I used that knife in the field (before I "customized" it).

I have a Schrade or Uncle Henry Wolverine around here somewhere that is NIB. NIB probably because I think it has a stainless steel blade. Love Schrade carbon blades. The stainless, not so much.......

Here's a few old Carbon Steel slip joints.
You're right. They're some of the best knives ever.

I will say though, that I have a Schrade Lock Back from the 80's IIRC with the cross on the hilt that denotes SS. It's the absolute best piece of stainless I've ever owned. Sharpens easily and holds an edge forever.
It has Rosewood scales and Nickel Silver pomels. Don't know if they used different steel in that model or what, but I carried it for years and never a complaint.
I'll try to find a pic of it.

I thought I had a pic of the Wolverine.......

Tell ya what, the older Schrades had very high quality sheaths for blue collar factory knives IMO.......

Those are nice. I've a bunch of folders also.

The best SS I've used is probably Queen's. It just seems "different" than the rest. They were pioneers as far as stainless steel and American cutlery industry are concerned...........

Oops,,, it's an Uncle Henry.

Here's a quick pic next to a 3OT for size comparison.
It's a nice little knife for sure though.

Very nice. You just reminded me, I have a couple of those too somewhere.

Here is a few more.

The 2 blue knives are 100 yr anniversary knives that never made it out the door. The plant closed first. Yep, in it's 100th year, 2007. The stockman at top never got the etch. The trapper at bottom has the 100yr etch on the blade but you can't see it in the pic. I have another one around somewhere that never even got the shield put on, or the etch. They were all in various stages of production when the doors were closed for good. Needless to say, the blue knives are pretty rare, as is the tin......

Herman Williams is a man I talk to now and again. He did some work for me a while back on one of my beloved Cattaraugus knives. This knife has his name engraved inside on the liner and on the back side tang. He worked for Schrade as an authorized repairman and customizer for like 35 years......

Now that's impressive!!!
My little 3OT ain't near that pretty, but I've had it forever and put it through he11. It's a miracle the tip isn't broke cause I know I tried. LOL

Love them Schrades, and their predecessor "Canal Street".
I've been ripped on for saying it, but I think Canal Street makes a better (and more consistant) knife than GEC.
I just wish they'd use 1095 steel.

Thanks. If you want a custom Schrade from Herman let me know. He only makes so many per season, then sells them. Then goes back to work to make more. He takes the winter off. He is getting up in years. Fantastic work he does, and the stag is as good as it gets........
