Nothing extremely fancy, but here's a nice "pack" skinner, that I got from rainshadow1 (Steve Tormala).

It has a Micarta [sp] handle, & a Kydex sheath.
I'm extremely happy with it, as it has remained very, very sharp.

I sure like my budget skinner! I love the shape and feel of the blade. It's a very natural feeling knife.

Grizz here.
This one's from R.J. Custom knives out of Livingston Montana.

Drop point from Dave Kauffman Montana City Montana.

Not really custom but sorta rare Rigid Yukon.

Not really practical but I likes it anyway. Large Randall Sasquatch with elephant ivory handle.

I made this knife for a gift to a friend of mine. He live in AZ, the wood is Mesquiet.

I made this one for my son, the wood is Purple Heart.

I made these 2 daggers(first attempt at making a knife) from the material below. The brass guard is from melted down .223 brass. Wood is ironwood.

This knife was made by a custom maker in Alaska. The handle contains survival gear and a .45 clip.

My Dad made this one back in the early 1900's the blade is a saw blade with a poured bronze handle.

Some really nice knives in this thread. Here are a few I have finished lately.

Ladder Damascus Fighter. Steel is 1084 and 15n20. Guard is stainless. Handle is stabilized redwood burl.

Pair of Matched Nessmuks. One is 1095 high carbon and the other is 5160. Handles are stabilized redwood burl.

Dagger I just finished. It is 1084 high carbon steel sandwiched between some wrought iron from an old wagon wheel tire. Guard is wrought iron and handle is stabilized redwood burl (again). Sheath inlay is beaver tail donated by a problem beaver at work.

That is it for now.

Nothing to fancy, a couple of knives I happen to have pictures of with me.

Knife a friend made me in a sheath made by one of our own.

Picture from the maker of my hidefighter

Believe it or not this will end up a knife. Doing everything by hand is incredibly slow. My first attempt at a knife.

My new Gene Ingram... My wife saw me looking at it a couple of times and surprised me by ordering it for me for no good reason at all - just because is all she said about it. I married WAY above my head and thank the good Lord above for her everyday.

Those look great!! How long have you been making knives? I took a "stab" at it, for the 1st time about 3 months ago and just finished and it looks good as a work knife, but it isnt gonna catch any eyes behind a glass case.

Here are my first 2 nice knives that I just got in a trade.
First is a Jerry Hendrix presentation iron wood with mass spine work.

Second is a Dervish Custom[John Gonzalaz] with presentation iron wood. This thing has a massive spine.

I wish I had the talent to make a knife like that! Bill Akers made it for me, I paid around $500 for it, keep in mind musk ox horn is quite expensive and a nice quality stock like this will cost around $200 alone. He's usually asking around $300 for knives with handles made of more common material.

Hi,

I Inherited a Ruana Bonner Montana about 8 years ago. I'm a whitetail hunter in VA and have used this knife quite a bit but it's a bit robust for my purpose. So I googled this knife and had no idea of it's value and heritage. Shame on me for using it... I believe my father purchased it for a blackpowder ram hunt out west sometime in the late '60s to '70s (a guess at best on the timeframe). I thought I would share some pics of it here with the true knife aficionados.

I would be interested in any comments regarding it. It appears to be very much like the 20B with a few differences. Most notably to me is the thumbnail groove on each side of the blade. The sheath and markings on the blade to not have any notable marking to help define the time period it was made but I believe it was made by Rudy Ruana as it dates before he quit making knives in '83.

Eric

Here is a skinner I finished this week. It is a full-tang 440c piece with Redwood burl handles, black liners, stainless mosaics and, of course, a short, braided lanyard with an Amboyna burl keeper.

It's 8" overall with a 3 1/2" blade.

They are all stainless steel, top one is a high valadium Spanish (unknown#), and the others are 440C.
More info here..
The scales are dymondwood, cause I like how easy it is to work up a smooth shiny surface..

CAUTION: Need ventilation & to wear a respirator when sanding dymondwood, dust will stay in lungs, it is deadly!!

Dont guess I ever put these on here:

First a Jim Rubley Riflemans knife from the Revolutionary war period. Jim made the file and then made the knife....

This is another Rubley knife but made more primitively. I asked for it to be more of a back country blacksmith kind of knife and it is... Again he made the file and then the knife but all the finish work shows the carbon and is much more rough then the previous knife. I really love this knife.

This is a slightly larger and heavier built knife, made by Paul Berry in Texas from a truck spring this is typical of many local built Bowie style knives of the period. Its a beast but pleasant in the hand and well appointed by Paul for me.

This is my every day favorite. Crafted by KY Master blacksmith Joe Kiesler it is made from a file. That bright spot in the picture is a quarter so you get the idea of size. Joe did not loose the temper on this metal as I can make a very light touch up and shave with this little beast......

Hope you enjoyed my knives. As you can see I am a bit old fashioned in my knife stuff...... I love good forge work.

Made this for my Dad on his 80th birthday (RIP).
SS blade blank & guard, dymonwood scales & base.
He taught me to shoot with 22 lr bolt, hunt with a 20 ga single shot, and never leave home withouth a pocket knife !!
He was of the great generation, WWII Ranger 2nd Btl D Co, first engaged the enemy at Castle hill (Hill 400).

Thanks K.
He kept this knife centered at eye level just above his desk.
He didn't use it for anything (could of) just enjoyed looking at it.
It was there until he passed, at 95, and he had a very long rewarding life.

Those are pretty sweet for a large blade. I'd like to handle one sometime.

I see it as a game/meat processing and kitchen duty blade. The 1/8" full flat grind should be a slicing machine!

Some elk handles

The one on the far right is made of an alloy called Stellite. I don't think you can find a more durable metal for a blade.

That is a very nice piece of work. I’m sure it put a smile on your father’s face.

This one is from Gaétan Beauchamp that I purchased about 17 years ago. The scales are fossilized walrus tusk. My wife wasn't to happy at the time that I spent $400 on the knife. She would stroke out to see what they cost now.

I recently picked up a knife designed by D Holder. Very impressive knife and work. It was designed for the Canal Street Cutlery who are now back in business.
Here's some information concerning Canal Street and the knife I have. The knife they are showing is not mine.

Here is one I had made for my son from the broken horn of an oryx he killed in 2019. A couple weeks ago he put it to good use field dressing his most recent oryx.
