Purchased a Diamond Outlaw last year. I was shooting the same Martin bow for the last 18yrs with fingers. Just went to a release. After 35yrs of finger shooting, took a while to get used to it. It may be because of what I was shooting before, but I am loving the Outlaw, and my shooting is better than ever.

Bear (Golden Eagle) Talon
Custom made at the Bear Plant in Gainesville Florida for me specifically, riser from one year of a bow model, limbs from another year model, and accoutrements to match them together. I LOVE this bow, and it really fits me nicely.

well perhaps custom ASSEMBLED is the better term. They had the parts, they made this one for me by assembly of various components so that it would fit me better than the other bows they had in the price range could be made to do.

Older Jennings Rackmaster Compound Bow...bought a new Mission "Craze" in the Lost Camo,it has a short 28 inch axel to axel width and can be set for several draw lengths and from around 20 to 70lbs with 85% let-off.
Still have to decide on what arrow rest, sight and quiver to get for it?

I picked up a '12 Bear Legeion it shoots very nice. Hit the kill zone on my delta speedbag at 50 yards 99.999 % of shots. Love the bow. Solid back wall. Pretty quiet. Very little hand shock.

I shot various PSE bows competitively and as my primary hunting rig for many years. Got out of Archery/Bow hunting scene for awhile due to other interests and family obligations.
Pleased to say that I am back in the saddle this year as I picked up a lightly used 2011 Hoyt Carbon Element, it sure is a shooter!

Well, after about 15 years out of bowhunting, I am finally doing what I should have done several years ago and getting back into it. To treat myself, I picked up a 2012 Martin Bengal Pro. So far, I am really liking the bow and can't wait for the season to get here.

I hunt a right hand 2011 Bowtech Destroyer 350 and a left hand 2010 Mathews Monster, both in 70lb. My Destroyer is my deer, coyote, and 3D bow, while I use the Mathews for turkeys and hogs (longer, heavier arrows. Bullheads for turkeys, so the shaft had to get outside my riser).

I hunt a right hand 2011 Bowtech Destroyer 350 and a left hand 2010 Mathews Monster, Do you shoot them eqaully well ? All the years I've been in the archery business I've never seen this. I'm still a little slower with the left hand bow, but I'd say I shoot them both "very well" for a bowhunter. I don't shoot competitively much anymore other than the occasional 3D match, but I'll drop 5-20pins a night out of both bows on 2 or 3 nights a week (10yrd range in my basement) after a good workout. Backstory, because you'll all enjoy this: Someone owed a friend of mine some money, so he took the Mathews against the debt. He offered it to me for sale (this would have been back in January), knowing I shoot firearms, throw a football, etc etc ambidexterously. I had just bought my Destroyer, so I wasn't looking for another bow, BUT I figured since we had it, I'd go ahead and try shooting it... Second shot I took with it: What it looked like 2 days later.... So at that point, I put it down, and didn't touch it until the fear of ripping my skin off went away. For whatever reason, at first it felt like my bow was too far away from me, so obviously I was sticking my arm out into it trying to get closer to my bow. After a week or so, I picked it back up and got myself comfortable with the bow. Here is a pic of my 3rd group I'd ever shot left handed, at 10yrds, complete with a ruined arrow: Give me a break, I was using a bunch of my junk arrows in case I threw one into the wall (punches a hole in the dry wall, and crushes the insert and point into the carbon on the brick on the outside, been there, done that, spackle is cheap, arrows aint). I was hitting high and left, but they were going where I needed them, and it's been rolling really well since then. After a month or so of not finding a buyer, I told him I'd take the bow in trade against some free hotel nights that I had earned at work so he and his wife could take a little vacation. So I ended up with a Mathews Monster, QAD Ultra HD rest, and HHA OL-5019 trigger sight, for free (Figure around $1200-1500 new price). I can do most things with either hand. I probably should have been a lefty all those years ago, since my left eye is my dominant eye, but I've practiced both ways so much now, I'm pretty well interchangable. I shot my buck this year left handed (on accident) before I even realized I was holding the rifle left handed, 250yrds out of a Marlin 1895 Guide Gun .45-70. Your response is pretty common when I tell people I shoot either hand. One of my buddies says I need to put up a youtube video with one continuous cut, shoot one right handed into the 10ring, then switch bows and break the arrow left handed, but I haven't quite mastered the intentional robinhood switching bows yet... Video to come when it happens!

Over the years, when I'm shooting "good" right handed, I usually end up with a narrow "string tickle" just at brace on my left wrist, maybe a 1/2" to 1" wide welt. It never hits hard, and it generally only happens when I'm shooting really well, so I don't mind it (kinda gets a callous up after a long season). It's always kind of a lingering warning like my bow is telling me not to play too close to the edge, so I'm always pretty wary of string slap, even after 20yrs of slinging sticks. Every practice I mount my bow, heel the heck out of it, then sort of twist my bow arm elbow in and out once to remind myself where it needs to ride, then go on shooting.
But that's right handed...
Apparently that muscle memory did not translate to my left hand for my first few shots! The lefty bow has bitten me twice in the 8mos I've been shooting it, but I've also broken a lot of arrows with it, and taken a couple decent turk's, so I figure the juice is worth the squeeze.

Shooting a Hoyt Alpha Burner. This thing rocks. I've got the #70 bow and the limbs maxed out, should be a little over #70 draw. Its at the shop right now getting new strings.
I was shooting a #60 Hoyt Magnatec before. A great bow, quiet and accurate, but for me 50 yards was max range.
The Alpha Burner's first pin can be used from close enough to pet the animal to 3" low at 40 yards. Then its got a 50, 60, 70 and 80 yard pin. I can make good shots at 80 but with that practice I can hit large apples at 60 yards. Love it, its been gone for 24 hours now and Im itching to get it back with new strings!!!

Two longbows: A Bama Bow 57# and a Big River 60#. Love my longbows. Been through a bunch of them over 20 years of shooting them, Howard Hills, Jerry Hills, Martins, others. I used to shoot 80# but my shoulder won't take that anymore. 57# shoots all the way through them, so I guess I haven't really lost much. The Bama Bow is the first one I've ever had made just the way I wanted it, and I'm super-pleased with it. The Big River is my backup, and it shoots and feels very similar, so I can switch if I need to or just want to carry a different bow some days.

I shoot a Bear Homewrecker, the hubby shoots a Diamond Black Ice. Exciting new bows from Bear this year though so I have a feeling he'll be switching back to Bear soon.

I just got a Mission craze a couple months ago. It is a little thing that's for sure but spits the arrows out at a pretty good clip. I have it set at 70# and 30" draw. I'm not going to lie it looks a little silly a guy my size shooting a bow that small but you know what, I've already killed one deer with it and I still have a little money in my wallet so I'm happy. I figured I would shoot it for a couple years and then pass it on to my son when he is old enough.

Irish, there's nothing wrong with the way those little Craze bows shoot. And 30 inch 70lbs has a IBO speed rating of 305fps. I always take one along on elk hunts. If a major breakdown happens it will fit anyone of the four of us.

I would only get the hunter because of the bigger brace height, (7" 3/4). answer at 7ish, which still is great. dont know what i would get [beeep]

I am really impressed with the quietness, smooth shooting, accuracy and absolutely solid back wall. You just can't creep the string with the Elite, it just sits back there and you can hold it forever.

Bear Kodiak that belonged to my grandpa and made in 64 of 65. It means a lot to shoot and hunt with this bow since it was his first hunting bow. I've taken two deer with it so far.
Bear Kodiak Magnum from 73 that I bought at a garage sale for $5
For a compound I am shooting a Bowtech Tribute that my brother won as a prize. He didn't like shooting it so I bought it from him and really love this bow.

Been shooting Bowtech before Bowtechs were cool. Me too, so long that they weren't even Bowtech when I started shooting them! My first "Bowtech" was a Strother designed Oregon bow about 15yrs ago that was older than I was at the time.

So you were born in the 90s ? I shot a Oregon bow for awhile when they were still being manufactured, think it was called a "Black Knight" they were a decent bow. I did like commercial of a SUV running over their bow and the guy picks it up and shoots it.

So you were born in the 90s ? I shot a Oregon bow for awhile when they were still being manufactured, think it was called a "Black Knight" they were a decent bow. Nah, Oregon went out of business in the 90's, but I have an older model. I'm a child of the early 80's, a tech that I had "age" my bow put it in the late 70's, no later than early 80's, so this old Oregon Bow and I are within a few years of eachother one way or the other. We had to get pretty creative to reduce the draw length for me, and of course we had to make the strings and cables custom. I've been curious whether the new Bowtech Carbon Knight moniker had anything to do with the old Black Knight, but drawing a straight line between John Strasheim or Kevin Strother to connect Oregon and Bowtech is a subject of debate. Seems like nobody has any straight dope about when or where these guys moved from one to the other, or how much they were actually involved in operations. But, I lean towards the whimsical rumor mill because it suits me. Oregon made super fast twin cam bows with short brace heights, they collapsed, a few of them ran over and Bowtech emerged, also making binary cam super fast bows with short brace heights... Seems like there's something to that.

Mathews Switchback. I am wondering if they have a newer bow that is just as smooth with a soft valley? I don't like the feeling that if you creep a little the bow is going to jump out of your hands. Suggestions?

Haven't shot bows since I was a teen. Back then it was a bear compound youth model. Decided I wanted to try it again so I'm picking up a Mathews switchback tomorrow hopefully. Dont want to dump a ton of dough on something I probably won't use much.

Martin Onza XT set at 65lbs 29" draw Muzzy 100gr. 3 blade..Rage 100gr. 2 blade
Best bow I have ever owned, and I've had a lot. gen 27 3 take a look at Martin bows, I picked up mine on archerytalk, barely used, got it with a matching quiver for $300.00 to my door. I always seen Martin bows and thought "ugh" but I was selling myself way short..my bow is every bit as good as the high end Hoyts I've had or the over priced Mathews. New I seen the Onza XT for around $550.00

My Pse full throttle should be here soon. Im A little worried about the short brace height but the idea of 1 pin out to 40 yds sounded very appealing. I'll post a review when it comes in.

I shoot traditional longbows. I have a custom built Voo-Doo Kustom which the riser is made from elk antler. My other longbow is custom made (i helped make it) by a friend and its a Southern Draw longbow.

50# 76 bear Kodiak hunter and a 60# damon howatt hunter. I do shoot my mission eliminator 2 occasionally but I have a lot more fun shooting traditional.

I shoot a Bowtech 40#"Heartbreaker" and love it. I am a pretty small person and have a metal plate in my neck so I can't handle a higher poundage but it does fine. It gave a complete pass through on a 300# black bear and I have two deer at the taxidermist as we speak. I only bow hunt and have owned a Martin, Hoyt and a Matthews Jewel but I'll stick with the Bowtech.

I've been lucky...practically born with a recurve bow in my hand. My father was a master bowyer @ the Howatt plant from the late 50's to the mid 70's. I own and have shot Coronado's, Hi-Speeds, Hunters, Del Rey's(my practice bow). I have 2 rosewood Super Diablo's...was lucky enough to have got Bill Stewart to build me a multi-cam takedown recurve before he passed away. I also came across a Browning Nomad I 52# at an estate auction. It is short in length, just under 47", but is a great shooting bow; one I'd make my pack bow if I were to wander into the woods for an extended stay.
