The pointer excells at grouse but waht do you prefer for pheasents, a pointer or flusher, I know the cover plays an important role but in general ??

I've hunted behind several good pointers but my favorite is the lab for flushing the wiley ringneck I've owned and trained 5 good ones over the years just put the last to sleep Dec. 22 diabetus was the culprit,

My favorite bird dog is a 'Combo' meaning they point, then flush on command. I have only had the privlage to hunt with two dogs that fit into that class. One was an English Setter, and the other was a Chocolate Lab. Both were owned by the same person.

But until I get the opportuinity to have one of my own, I prefer a pointer all around.
