The Rules:

2012 Egg Shoot

Contestants will be comprised of registered members of Predator Masters that are participants of the Annual hunt during which the Egg Shoot will be held. The Egg shoot will be on the Saturday of the annual hunt.

Past 1st. Place winners will not be eligible for the competition.

This is what is allowed.

1. A rifle weighing no more than 13 lbs complete with any attachments used at the firing line and his ammo. The scope will be limited to a max setting of 15 power while on the line.

2. A shooting stool, pad, or similar device that would be considered customary in a calling stand application.

3. A set of shooting sticks that are hinged, 2 legs, not attached to the rifle, and are customary for a calling stand application.

4. Buttstock of rifle will rest against the shooters shoulder only.No support from the backrest of chair will be allowed.

5. If you use a chair to sit on and it has an armrest your arms are not allowed to wrap around or rest on chair as extra support.

6. Slings will be allowed but they will not be used to lash your shooting sticks to your gun.

7. Your own spotter if so desired.(there was more than enough spotting scopes at the shoot to acquire a spotter for each lane. Each shooter should have his own guy spotting for him. This will cut down on a lot of confusion. The spotter disc will be a shootNsee and should be adequate to see a bullet impact through a rifle scope.)

All decisions made by Range Master the day of the shoot are final.

The format will be as follows.

For the first 3 rounds you will be shooting with up to 5 other shooters. Mags may be loaded but the action can not be closed till the fire command is given The clock will start at the fire command.

All shots will be taken at a distance of 150 yards. Your first time to the line you will have 5 minutes to fire 5 shots. If the egg is broke in your lane at the end of the time limit, you will advance to the second round.

In the second round you will have 1 1/2 minutes to fire 3 shots. If the egg breaks in your lane you will advance to the third round.

In the third round you will have 30 seconds to fire one shot. If the egg is broke in your lane you advance to a shootoff.

Shoot off rules.

Each shooter be allowed one shot firing in rotation. You will have 30 seconds to take the shot. This is an elimination shootoff.

I've never been to The Hunt but am looking forward to it this year. I have a couple of questions.

1. Is the spotter target behind the egg so you can see your misses or below the egg so you can take a shot to check your point of impact befor shooting the final four shots at the egg?

2. Can you enter more than once if your shooting different guns?

Thanks

The spotter target is below your egg.You can use it as you wish but it does count as a shot.

You are allowed only one entry.

There has been a slight change in the program.

We have removed the sighter target from the egg shoot. In the past two years no one has fired a shot at any of the sighter targets.

So in order to reduce the bulk of what we have to pack to the event so we can stage the egg shoot the sighter was removed.

I know this question usually comes up...There is a public range that is available for sight-ins and practice that you can use before the Egg Shoot...

Jeepdude and I spent some time there last year... I plan on doing the same this time..I just like to know that the 3000 foot difference in elevation doesn't negatively affect my loads...

Yeah, I figure it's always good to check your loads and make sure your scope wasn't reset by one of the big pot holes on NM highways. We can definitely find some time to hit the range and check zero RJM.

Calvin ball was developed by the Calvin character from Calvin and Hobbes.

RJM accurately stated the rules.

It was kind of a joke.
