What powder for the 25-06

I am about to start loading for my new Stevens 200 in 25-06 and I would like to know what you guys have been using powder wise for the 25-06. I have available H1000,H4831SC, and Ramshot Magnum . Also I would like to know if you guys would use magnum primers .

I use H4831SC and R22, both work well with the R22 giving a little better velocities but is a little dirtier and not as temp stable. Magnum primers are not necessary in this round IMO.

I have used several powders now for 25-06 and really like the imr powders 4831 and 4350 for shooting but not for metering from a measure. That h4831sc would be where I would start personally.

I remember a thread on here awhile back, and someone was getting good results with Retumbo. I am gonna try some Hybrid 100V in mine. But, I am using lighter bullets.

ditto on RL22 and another choice is Accurate Arms 3100 (or whatever the new label reads).....my ruger #1 likes the 87 grain speer TNT for coyotes and the old nosler 120 grain solid base for antelope & deer.....

A guy that has shot the 25-06 for years told me that there are 3 powders that work best in the 25-06.

They are RL 22, RL 22 and RL22, but in a pinch you can get by with RL22.

I have found nothing in my experience to argue with him.

I had the best luck with IMR 4350 (most accurate) and H4831sc in my Savage.

I am going to try RL17 next, as I have read some are having good success with it in .25-06....that and I like to tinker. Now I may have to give RL22 a whirl as well.

My buddy's 700 likes the IMR4350 with the 110 accubond as well. He also shoots the imr4350 with a 85gr Nosler BT.

For my 700 and 117 Sierra Gamekings:
-IMR 4831 for best velocity and accuracy (but have to watch the warmer temps though)
-RE17 a very close second with a little better velocity
I tried about 10 other powders to get to these results
-standard primers if you are asking.
The RE17 is my hunting round of choice because I can shoot the load during the summer without seeing pressure signs.

Ive done by far the most shooting and loading and have the most data for the 25-06 then any other cartridge. Its my favorite cartridge by far. I've had 4 of them in the last 10 years and have probly put over somewhere between 5-7 thousand rounds downrange with them.

If I was limited to 3 powders in the 25-06, it would be IMR4350 for the lighter to medium weight bullets, RL22 for the medium to heavies, and Retumbo for the heavies.

My last 25-06 was a 24" shilen barreled 700 and was a flat out shooter, it smoked em out there as well, right on heels of factory 257 WM...

My last one (24" shilen barreled 700) did 3900fps with 75g vmaxes, 3500fps with 100g NBT's, and 3275fps with 115g NBT/VLDs, these were upper end loads that still shot very well, 1/2 MOA at 100 anyways. IMR4350 was used for the 75g vmaxes and Retumbo was used for the 100g and 115g pills. Should not have sold that rifle...Stupid, stupid me...

Retumbo is a lot better then Rl22 far as consistency from lot to lot and temp sensitive is not even close, thats why I started working with Retumbo in the 25-06. Rl22 just gives to much headache unless you buy it in kegs...

My custom barreled Encore likes H4831SC.53.3 grains in a winchester case with win. primers and 100 gr. core-lokts seated to touch the lands.Drops Whitetails like a bad habit!
