FPS Question

I finally got to chrony my 223 loads and was wondering if the velocity sounds about right. 55gr. V-Max, 23 1/2gr. of Benchmark, Rem. 7 1/2 primer. This is shot out of a Stevens 200. FPS averaged 3069, 5 shot average. Its a really accurate load, just wondering if that sounds about right. ???

I am seeing 2974 from a 22" tube with that combo in Quickload. Thats using 2.260" OAL and 1.750 case.

Yours looks good from here. Not a max by any means (25.6 for 3264 from a 24" with speer sp in the '04 Hodgdon manual).

Shorter OAL would also give a little more pressure and velociety, as would a tighter bore.

My O.A.L. is 2.360. Quite a bit longer that whats listed. It still fits the mag well OK, so I guess I'll leave it alone.
