Hmmm .... well ..... to be honest .... I'm picking the rifle up tomorrow. Dan Carey was nice enough to offer to sponsor my shooting needs for this event. As most people know Dan doesn’t make a rifle that can’t shoot and he assures me that this rifle most certainly is up to the task. Actually hitting the egg will be up to me and by anybodies standard a 300 yard egg is a mighty small target. What I know about the rifle is, it’s got one darned fine Timney drop in trigger, a Night Force scope, it’s a 223 AI shooting 60gr v-max bullets with benchmark powder, it’s got a heavy barrel and it’s not the prettiest rifle in town. That doesn’t surprise me, AR’s aren’t made to be especially pretty, they are more like cold heartless very efficient machines. A tool for the job at hand.

Guys, I've heard through the grape vine that some folks aren't going to shoot because they think the competition is to fierce and they don't have a chance of winning. I'm here to say that is not the case. Speaking for myself here, most of what I'm writing about the shoot is a case of "false bravado". I am not saying that I don't know my way around a rifle, I surely do, but no more than the vast majority of you. I'm largely an old fat out of shape gun hack with bad eyes. Hitting an egg at extended range is somewhat about skill, somewhat about decent equirement and a great deal about luck. The first year I was simply lucky, last year along with several others I hit one egg and after that couldn't shoot my way out of a paper bag. This year who knows, anything could happen, it could easily be your year ............

And as far as the Dan Carey AR is concerned, remember I'm using a Dan Carey AR to try to WIN a D-Tech AR, both are very decent rifles, the D-tech is more than worthy of a serious effort. I like the looks of this years D-Tech configuration very much, any AR enthusiast would be proud to own it.

Here is what the targets will look like. there can be up to 6 targets on this board. Each shooter will get two sighters at the black targets below their egg. The they can fire up to 5 shots during the shoot. If they need more sighters, they can continue to shoot at the target dot during the competition, but it will be counted in their 5 competition shots.

Guy's

This shoot is a hoot and funner then most other shoots I have been in even with the army.

I will be paying at the hunt and getting extra shots also for I can not hit a barn with all the doors and windows closed and I on the inside.

Just want to have some fun and have a great time with all the GREAT folks of this web site.

I did not shoot last year for I could not get down all the way and did not want to ask for help getting up off the stool or off the ground.

Now I do not care about asking for a big hand to help me up and I want to have more fun this year too boot.

So folks let's all consider getting into this and having allot of FUN as well.

SEE YOU ALL THERE...

Can one sign up at the shoot? If my Saturday plans fall through, I might want to pony up. I have other plans already made, but you never know.

For those fellas on the fence about shooting, think of entering this way...

It's a $50 dollar raffle ticket and you have a 1 in 20(give or take) chance of winning a $1500 AR. I'd take those odds just on basic principle! The fun of actually shooting is free!

I'd buy that ticket in a second...

MJM and Onefoot bring up very good points. I shot last year for the first time and was absolutely shaking with adrenaline on the line! Not an excuse for missing, just conveying the excitement of the event! The Egg Shoot is surely a highlight of the Hunt...

Sure, guys could bring along a "ringer" rifle (I know I could), but how much of an advantage is that in reality? Shooting off sticks is a great "equalizer", so the most "accurate" rifle on the line will be wobbling in the sticks just like my rifle is...

Truth be told, the element of luck is a factor (I'm counting on it ) and ANYONE who enters & shoots can win that sweet DTECH!
