Boy's I've been waiting a long time to write those words. Yes Gentlemen, we are sanctioned by PM for '06. Along with sanctioning comes sign up sheets which they are working on right now trying to get them put into HTML format. Should be ready by early November. Fee will be $5, this goes to the board for operation costs through out the year

We will headquarter at Wranglers Campground located almost in the center of the Land Between the Lakes.I plan on having cabins A2 and A3 for a gathering place. These two are large cabins and should be able to acomodate all of us for evening bull sessions.THEY ARE ALSO THE FIRST CABINS YOU ENTER THE CAMPGROUND. Cabin rentals are available for those wishing to stay in the campground. Small cabins are $32 per night and the Large are $52 per night. Reservation fees are two nights plus $3 .You can contact them through http://lbl.org/Home.html

An Lbl hunting permit is required as well as the state hunting liscense for the state you are hunting in. LBL hunter permit is still $20. This can be purchased locally or through state liscensing agancies online.

Ky hunting non resident license for five day small game is still $32.50This can be purchased online at http://www.kdfwr.state.ky.us/

Tennssee has gone up on us ,7 day small game license is now $50.50. You can also purchase online at http://www.state.tn.us/twra

Now ,for those of you have never been to or seen the LBL , well it's something else.Mountainous type terrain with steep hillsides and deep hollows. Thanks to the two lakes the winds there are diferent and pose a large part of the challenge of the LBL.These lake effect thermals cause swirling wind currents in the hollows that the coyotes know how to use to their best advantage. This is a very high use public area with hikers and horseback riders and all kinds of tourist's and hunters. Horse back riding is confined to the Wranglers area trails. Food sources for the coyotes run from the deer herd all the way down to winter killed shad, just whichever is easiest and most available at the time.

What you will need is a sleeping bag, clothing ,and food for a couple of days. Not a bad idea to bring a good space heater along to warm the cabin if that is where you choose to stay. The ones furnished at the campground leave a bit to be desired. No kerosine or other fuel heaters are allowed in the cabins. While you are checking out the LBL website be sure and order a road and zone map through snail mail. These maps are very handy to have and without one you could be a while finding a road you think you know /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I will have extras just in case though.

We will also have a raffle ticket drawing of goods for the purpose of keeping Predator Masters a FREE SITE. All proceeds of the raffle go to PM. Not sure when these will be available or what goods will be in it yet.Callmakers who wish to donate can contact Keekee by private message or e-mail.If you can't get ahold of Keekee for some reason contact me through private message. Keekee is hunt co-ordinator and record keeper for both the Globe and LBL hunts.

Please post any questions you have or contact me through private message if you wish. I hope to see you all there come FEBUARY 3,4,AND 5TH.Sorry Critter, I forgot to check the almanc for moon phases /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gifJimmie

Jimmy you must of herd me talking this morning at work. I was wondering if the date has been set yet and what you know it has. Going to reserve cabin tomorrow. How is every one doing?? Getting ready to cut corn in the next few weeks Beans will be in oct-nov again. Damn gas prices might shut us down on our hunts this year or not!! Been doing some mine rec and seeing lots of tracks and craps. Catch every one later on in the season.

I knew I could count on you and Stan ,Brian. You will also be happy to know your favorite zone is on the trapping list again this year /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Not to worry though, they have been taking around eighty coyotes a year out of the zones they are allowed in and haven't phased the numbers yet! That zone has made the list 3 out of the four years. Productive little bugger aint it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Jimmie

If Roundman is coming, then I have got to be there too. Someones got to keep him out of trouble. I can't wait, those LBL coyotes better watchout this year. I bet everyone's heard that before...huh.

Count me in!!!!

Dont count your chickens before their hatched. If the stars and plannets will allign just right, you might just have a westerner amongst the midst. Im keeping my figers crossed. I'd like to be there.

Looks like you got about everything covered Jimmie! Great job!

Im very happy that we could get this hunt sponcerd by Predator Masters! We worked hard to get to this point! The LBL hunt is one of the best hunts I have ever been to! Great people! The camp fire talks are worth the trip!

These coyotes are some of the most challenging that you will ever hunt, very vocal (when they want to be) and great area to hunt!

I look forward to seeing everyone again and meting some new people this year! And seeing all the old timers...lol

As Jimmie said we will be putting up a registration form this year, all the details will be coming up soon. This will help keep everyhting up and running! And give us a head count on the hunt. We are going to set the registration up online so it will be very easy to get signed up!

I will be happy to help anyone who needs it or answer any questions that I can as well. Jimmie does a great job of keeping us all posted of whats going on at the LBL with the Coyotes! And I will be down there some this year before the hunt as well.

So if you got questions post them up!

For all the Custom Call Makers I will be taking donations for the hunts both LBL and Globe, so feel free to contact me if you would like.

We will have the raffle again this year to and hope to have a better prize list this year as well, Im working on some things now, and so are some of the other Predator Masters staff! Raffle tickets will go up for sale at the same time as the registation. Around November sometime.

Im sure we will have a great hunt this year again and have no doubt we will have a blast! So, if you can make it, come on down and see some of the guys! You will have a blast!

Brent

You gonna have a place for me to stay and hunt this year Kee with all the guys, If I can make it? LOL!! Great bunch of folks at the LBL.

All I can tell you Grinr is that it's a hell of a lot more fun than waiding waist deep snow at that time of year /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

The howling contest between Keekee, Brian (aka Ilcoyote) and the group of coyotes there at Wranglers camp is worth the trip by itself. That is if the old dog and that crazy jip decide to co-operate.It's a very good oportunity for the beginer to hear all coyote vocalizations first hand.

Lots of good people and good clean fun just talking about what we love the most. And a lot of good natured ribbing if'n ya doesn't shoot to straight when and IF you get the chance /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif But don't worry about that too much ,I get most of the abuse /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

I'll get started on the ground work as soon as fubearer season opens there December 1st.Jimmie

don't underestimate how much fun can be had wading through waste-deep snow!!That's wut snoshoes are for. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good news indeed! No...great news! Jimmie and Brent are working hard to make this a fantastic annual hunt... and it is lots of fun, too! I'm hoping to be there again and this time I have two new digital cameras so we will have lots of pictures. Anyone that hasn't been to an LBL Hunt is really missing out.

Jimmie,Brent, let me know what you might need help with... and congratulations!!!! Nikonut

Well... I've missed every one so far but this time all my moving mess is over so I imagine I'll be there this time.

Do we need hunting licenses from BOTH Tennessee AND Kentucky? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

$bob$

No just the state you plan on hunting in. If you want to be able to hunt both states you will need Lic for both states. There right there cloase togeather from the camp ground, both Tn and Ky are very close and easy to get to.

Brent

May I add, for those interested:
LBL is a national recreation area managed by the USDA Forest Service. This means all property within the LBL boundary is federally controlled. LBL has special regulations and guidelines.

A few examples:
When in a vehicle, firearms must be unloaded and cased (soft cases are acceptable), no ammo can be stored in clips or magazines. Hunters must possess a hunter safety card according to state regulations.
I could not find it noted anywhere on their website but I learned last year that concealed handgun carry permits are not valid on LBL.

An annual LBL Hunter Use Permit is required for all hunters, age 16 and older, in addition to a valid Kentucky or Tennessee hunting license for the state portion of LBL in which you are hunting. Permits may be purchased at LBL welcome stations, the Golden Pond Visitor Center, or wherever Kentucky or Tennessee State hunting licenses are sold.

LEGAL WEAPONS FOR SMALL GAME HUNTING
Shotguns, rimfire rifles, rimfire handguns, muzzleloaders, and archery equipment according to state regulations with the following exceptions: the use of crossbows, in KY, centerfire rifles, centerfire handguns, and shotguns loaded with slugs or shot (lead and steel) larger than BB in the Kentucky portion or larger than No. 4 in the Tennessee portion is prohibited (except for coyotes in February-see regulations). Broadheads may not be used for small game hunting except for specified game during the deer archery season.

Some areas of LBL are No Hunting zones, including the Environmental Education Area, waterfowl refuges and horseback trails. A complete list of No Hunting areas is available from an LBL Welcome Center or by writing LBL.
