Hello, my name is Dave and I'm an addict

Shot and hunted with my first suppressor last week. I got to play with some Gemtech cans on my 6.5 Grendel and my 6x45. Holy smokes, I didn't know what I was missing. Tim Titus of No Off Season once told me that if I shot a can I wouldn't want to ever shoot without one! Boy, oh boy, was he right. I am starting my paperwork this week and ordering two Daggers and a GMT-300BLK. I captured some awesome video of coyote reactions to being shot at suppressed that I will share soon.

My big question is this; Is there a support group for my new addiction? I think I need to start with daily meetings and hopefully work to only needing a sponsor to stop me from buying more

Sounds real similar to how I was hooked. When I first really learned about suppressors I thought they were an over priced toy of the tacticool crowd. I thought there was no way to justify the 700-1500 price tag for a mere 30 decibels of reduction.

Then one of my hunting buddies bought one and the whole time he was waiting for his stamp I gave him crap for it and basically told him I thought he threw his money away. He gets his suppressor and we go calling, 1 hour later I was giddy and trying to find enough money in my budget to order one my self. I was eating my own words so fast I choked on them. In one morning I had seen virtually every advantage they had to offer!

We could call and shoot in one draw and then walk over the hill and call and shoot in the next draw. We called in 2 coyotes the 2nd was about 500 yards behind the 1st. He dumped the 1st one and the 2nd coyote paused for a moment or 2 and kept right on coming. On the last set that morning he missed a coyote at 200 yards and when that coyote turned to leave the county he ran right at us!

That was 2 years ago, and since then nearly all of my hunting partners have cans and I've personally seen those situations play out time and time again. If nothing else they have certainly allowed us to maximize our hunting areas. I'm pretty much the last one of the group to get one, those pesky medical bills just kept coming, but I'm currently 2 months since the atf cashed my check and absolutely can't wait for my suppressor to show up!

Yes there is! That's why this "Suppressed" forum was started

Typically, the biggest complaint I hear after someone is recently hooked, even more so than the grumbling of price, is dang why didn't I get one of these a lot sooner! lol

My jaw dropped the first time I shot it on MY gun. Actually filmed shooting it with the muzzle brake, then just a thread protector, then the can. I giggle every time I watch it. It was a "I could have had a V8" moment. (For you young whipper snappers, that was a tv commercial back in the day)

I was gonna go to the range again today.......just sat dreaming of a can instead.

Yoda look out it is a bad bad addiction. Worse than the black rifle one. Wait till your sitting on a stand just admiring it as a coyote comes in and you almost forget why you were there in the first place.

My GW friend really hooked me. I had thought about if for years, but never did anything about it. Then one day I went LR shooting with him out at his ranch, and he was shooting suppressed with his 308. Done deal, I started saving and getting my trust done the next week. I busted my first coyote with my own suppressor on my own rifle 2 days ago. I have another on order, about day 75 on it right now. Gonna order my third one here in the next week or two.

My 7 year old baby girl totally approves of the can!

And 5 shots from prone, shooting at the "head" at 200 yards.

Everything has changed in the way I look, shop, and buy guns. First thought is it threaded, second is the barrel the right size to be threaded, and if the awnser to one or two is no move on.

I have only regret " not buying one years ago"

Dave,
I think what they say to each other in therapy groups during a group hug is, "Lv ya". (in our case in a manly sort of way)
So picture all of us in this forum during an addicted group hug. "Lv ya Dave"

I just ordered my first two about two weeks ago, a tactical solution axiom for rimfire and a Yankee hill m2/ad phantom. The wait now is killer. You try and just forget about them but that's next to impossible.

Anyone have any experience with either of the 2 I ordered?
