I normally don't get to hunt areas as open as this and it was a blast. I was set up in my truck bed at the edge of a wood line overlooking a cut field. I was in a shooting chair and it is a little tricky because you have to swivel the chair with your legs for running leads.....sort like a tank turret.
I was using a 6.8 SPC with the IR Defense 35mm Mark II. I went to 2x for the first shot and thought I would anchor the first hog and have time to switch back to 1x native. I missed the first shot at 110 yards so it was game on at 2x which cut my FOV way down.
The lead hog was the alpha sow and I expected them to break for the swamp to the right of the dam so I wanted to put her down between sounder and the swamp. After I missed the first shot she turned toward me and the whole sounder did the same.
If you look close at the video you can see 2 holes in the midsection of the last hog that ran past into the woods. I just sat still for another half hour and killed one more of the pigs that came out looking for the sow and another lone boar that was not one of the hogs in the sounder.
The hardest part of shooting the runners for me is slowing down and not rushing the shot. You can see several misses because I was too quick on the trigger.
Video
Killed this lone boar about 30 minutes after the video was shot.

This shooting chair setup provides a little elevation and comfort so I use it when I can.
