big hog

Boar hogs in the wild rarely get that big I've killed 3 in that size range all were Bar's...Boar's fight and f to much to get that big, I used to hunt a dairy in south Florida a lot of domestic breed in them they got huge and packed up when fighting dogs made for some interesting hunts and scars

yeah, and it is going to feed his family for a year...BS a boar that size would last until you finally through it out because it wouldn't be edible.

He said gutted. Don't think that hog had 96.04 lbs. of guts but I could be wrong. 50...maybe?

It was a barr hog. We have one at the processors right now that weighed 272 lbs. They are good eating. I wouldn't eat a boar that size but a barr is a whole different story.

I know a lot of people who do eat them. I know a guy from Alaska that comes down every year and spends the whole deer season here. He kills as many hogs as he can, and takes the meat back home with him. He likes the boars just as good as the rest.

The processing facilities here that buy hogs for slaughter pay more per pound for big boars. The highest price per pound is for boars over 200#. I understand most meat is being shipped overseas.

There are methods for caring for boar meat to make it edible. I eat all sizes. You can't tell the difference in a big nasty boar and a sow when I'm done except the sow meat is a little more tender. It takes 3-4 days before you can cut it up but well worth it.

Boars can eat just fine if not run half to death or killed while fighting dogs. Proper care goes along way in any wild meat.

The bar hog above had 1.5 inches of fat everywhere and ate very good, I seen guys run them and try to eat them after its not worth eating.

I've worked as a meat processer for over twenty yrs now and while this isn't a wild hog it is the biggest one we've ever done. It ended up weighing 600# dressed and skinned. My coworker is about 5'8 and the hogs head is almost touching the floor!
