Your favorite Red Fox call?

Your Physco Tweety is a good choice.

When calling Reds, I always have better lucky with softer but higher pitched sounds. I have a few of Burnham Bros S2 and S4 calls, they are just two plastic flat plates with rubber bands holding them together and some kind of reed sandwiched in between them. I make my own reeds out of plastic baggies and such and test them till I find a nice high pitch that I like. Sometimes I flutter my tongue when I am calling with these, in order to make a bird sound. Go on www.allpredatorcalls.com and look at the Burnahm Bros S2 or S4 calls. They are cheap, like $4 or something. They work great with a little modification. Amazing how far away they hear that little tiny call.

With an e-caller, you never know what will work. I've called Reds in using the FoxPro sound Aggressive Jack which is about as bold and abrasive sound you can find, but they came. I am not recommending that sound, just an example of some oddball stuff that occassioanlly works. Bird sounds almost always are good producers for Reds.

Justin, sorry I edited your post by mistake. Wrong button, my bad. Thought I hit reply and actually hit edit. DANG IT

its hard for me to sit down and concentrate on reds bc they are so much harder to kill in ohio but when i do i have had alot of luck with just a squeaker out of the kids toys... or pay for a mouse squeaker..lol.. and i definitely keep it softer... nothing too loud and blaring for reds.

lol no worries! I appreciate all the input! I like the recommendations for hand calls that make bird distress. I am a huge fan of that!

High pitched sqeaks, FoxPros, Lucky Bird, Field mouse distress, Rodent Distress, Wood pecker dis, baby cotton tail, Robin dis, Finch dis have all done real well for me this year. Ended up with 17 Reds this year

farmboy, you are stomping the Reds. Thats some awesome numbers,in my opinion. Good job. Killing that many Grays in a year around here, in the Mid Atlantic is not unusual, but that many Reds would turn a good callers head real quick. Good job, post some pictures.

I always heard that Maryland had some good numbers of Reds.

Plenty of good advice on this thread. We are infested with reds here on the Shore. I like a mouse squeaker alot, AP-6 is good too. Got a Syco Tweety for Christmas and it has done well. Called in a double on the first stand out with it. I agree that in general, high pitch and lower volume are best for reds. Our greys like it LOUD.

If you all like muli-calls then the KCC Back Stabber made by our very own Bootmud has worked for me. It is a cottontail distress on one end and a high pitched squeaker on the other. It has called many reds around here and the squeaker has brought them in real close. And with the unique design it is easy to very the pitch and volume.

Thanks, Yeah with the season not being open for that long and it not being very popular sport around here the population should be pretty high.

very nice! Congrads. to fellow Marylander. I'm from western MD, and we got 13 reds, 1 gray. All within 5-7 mile radius. Md has plenty of fox, just have to go after them.
