Leupold customer service

I recently became the owner of a Leupold Vari X II that is 20+ years old. The previous owner had somehow lost the caps that cover the windage and elevation adjustments. I called up Leupold to order a new set, and they mailed out a brand new set free of charge, no questions asked. I thought that was pretty fair of them for a scope which was probably purchased during the Carter administration. Just though I would pass that along. Sure, a few penies out of their pocket, no big deal. But talk about taking care of your customers for the long haul. I have to say I was impressed.

I bought a VXI 2x7 scope on another board and the previous owner didn't tell me he filed down the selector ring and screw so it would clear his bolt....

Anyway I was sending a VXIII in for a M1 turret and sent it along with a note explaining what happened and to check it out, fix and I'd pay for it. They sent it back with a new screw and selector assy free of charge. Took about 2 weeks.

Also makes it pretty easy to pull the trigger on purchasing a used product when you know the manufacturer stands behind the merchandise.

Leupold is a GREAT company. I dropped a pair of binoculars on my concrete garage floor. I sent them in for repair and despite the damage being done by my clumsiness they were repaired free of charge. These were older, out of warranty binoculars! I have other stories of Leupold going FAR above and beyond in serving the customer.

My dad sent in his 30+ year old vari-x II this spring because the glass was getting yellow. They called him up, said his scope was junk and if it was ok with him they'd send him a brand new vx-II. My dad of course thought that would be ok! Another reason I have many, many Leupolds.

Well I am in need of a new scope for my .270. From what I'm reading I think I know what I'll be getting, and from a sponsor .

This may be a little dated but the best gun shop I know of told me that they send less Luepolds in for repair than any of the others. About five years ago.

My Glass on my older Leupold is not that great and it is heavy, but it has rode tied to the Saddle Horn on my Horse, as well as rattling around on my Rhino for around two years now. I hunt all year long. I use my shirt sleeve to wipe the dirt off the bell glass. I would like to take bets it has held its zero. I have not been to the range in over a year and last time I went it was perfect. I also decided to change my load. Funny thing that new load as well as bullet change shot just like I intended to sight it. Scopes like that are not fun but they are dependable and that is worth a lot. By the way I sent it back to Leupold after I bought it to get a recticle change as well as thread it for light filters. They only charged me for the new reticle which was $65.00. I hate to pay that much for scopes but in the long run they are cheaper than the others

I bought a leupold fixed 12 power for $100 a couple months ago. I noticed that one of the lens was a little discolored, so I sent it off. It was returned to me 3 weeks later good as new. It came with a letter stating that the scope was made in 1979.

I had a pack horse wreck with my saddle horse and the result was the tube on my 20 year old 2.5 - 8x Leupold was bent. Sent it in to Leupold and they fixed it free of charge. I have been a dedicated Leupold fan ever since. They're better scopes but their sevice has to be the best.

Well, my Vari-X II has been on my elk rifle since that time and it's never been in for service. It's now purple instead of blue, but it holds zero and I can still see through it if it's not too dark out.

I've hunted with it in the brush and rain every elk season I've had it, too.
Pretty good value even without the customer service.

I was on the Leupold website yesterday looking for an ARD for a VX II. I couldn't find whether or not they offer them retail. Do any of the catalog outfits sell them, or do any of you have opinions on ARD's in general?

Thanks guys, that's it, I am buying a Leupold. I have been tossing the idea for awhile now but you guys have sold me on them.

Thanks,

A soon to be Leupold satisfied customer aka gonzaga
