Predator Masters

Will Craig
Predator Masters Founder
11 Nov 1950 - 9 Oct 2001

Will Craig was a guy who loved to hunt predators. Will had also been part of several predator hunting forums dedicated to the sport that, with time, came and went over the years.

Finally, after one such site folded up, Will decided to start his own, and Predator Masters was born. Will wanted to start the ultimate predator hunting site. One that would last and not disappear as many others had done in the past.

So with the help of his young son, Matt Craig, he began his work in earnest. His young son, Matt, helped Will get Predator Masters set up and running. Matt was about 13 years old at the time.

Much as Will had hoped, Predator Masters was a huge success right from its beginning, and Will was very happy with that. Shortly thereafter, Will was diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, the days for Will to enjoy his creation, and control its future were limited.

All too soon, the cancer claimed him and Will left us. The entire predator hunting community felt the deep sense of loss at Will’s passing. All at once, a bunch of volunteer moderators suddenly found themselves with a web site they owned and were responsible for.

Since then, we've done our very best to see that Will's dream fulfilled to the very fullest extent possible.

What was that dream?

This is Will's dream, in his own words, from way back then:

The basic plan is as follows:

1. Develop message board using professionals that have the very best in communications skills and expertise.

2. Develop standard Rules of Conduct.

3. Develop moderators to become active in managing their forums. The Administrator and the moderators would become the “operational managing team”.

4. Develop and approve a logo.

5. Develop a Board of Directors.

6. Develop and approve bylaws and a mission statement.

7. Develop membership levels to the point to attract predator calling related businesses, incorporate banners.

8. Develop advertising funds to generate operational funds. Operational funds will first be used to over operational cost such as server fees and web site optimization Excess funds from advertising can be used to create Predator Masters collateral to generate additional operational funds.

9. Surplus funds will be used to purchase Predator Masters hats, decals, stickers, etc., to be sold to members to increase operational funds. These funds will be used to support activities such as the regional scheduled hunts, seminars, public education programs etc.

10. An Annual Predator Masters Hunt/BBQ is vital to bring the membership together and Predator Masters must continue them throughout the future.

11. Develop a system where State Predator Master organizations are formed, who in turn will implement programs where they can . State, and local, Predator Masters clubs can further promote the sport of predator calling and support their local activities.

It is hoped that at least some advertisers will agree to offer Predator Masters members discounts on products and also donate items for contest prizes, raffles, awards, etc. In turn Predators Masters will offer a free product field testing service to Predator Masters advertisers. Therefore advertisers are actually Predator Masters members. This body of both predator callers and business that support the sport with products or services work together to promote and protect the sport of predator calling.

So there you have the basics of the dream. Many if not all of the items mentioned need to be done. The hard part is finding people that are truly willing to get involved and stay that way. Right now we need some one to help with attracting advertisers and accounting for the funds generated.

Predator Masters can be the weapon that protects the sport if we can get people to work together. Lots of work to be done but one or two people cannot do it alone, but working as a team it can happen...

The last picture is Will with the rifle that received from the Predator Masters staff. Will had become too weak to handle heavier calibers and was; therefore, given a rifle in a small caliber suitable for predators that he could handle in his condition.

Will requested a T/C in 22-250. Jason El Paso took care of getting it and setting it up for Will. Will had also expressed an interest in getting another barrel for it in .223.

We all planned for Will to use this rifle at the very first annual Predator Masters Hunt.

Very sadly, Will passed before the hunt.

Will was only 51 when he passed away, far too young. Over the years since then, there have been many people who have come and gone for various reasons. Those who remain, or who have stepped up since, have had one mission:

To do their best to see his dream live on.
