savage stevens 258a bolt action 20 gauge.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this gun. I have a chance to get one from a co worker for $75.00 but dont a thing about it. I have seen it and it is in really good shape. Looks like new. Was told it is about 50 years old. Anyone know anything else about this gun?

All I can tell you is that Stevens and Mossberg made bolt guns like that. My father used one, 16ga in the early fifties. His was a tubular magizine fead one not clip, shells loaded in through a port at the bottom where you see detachable mag on the shown shotgun. Stevens made his for Sears and had the JC Higgins label. I used it till I was 16 and killed a fair number of pheasants and grouse. The fireing pin spring finally gave up the ghost and I traded it for a JC Higgins pump.
