Do some heavy googling. I see outfitters offering hunts on private AND public land. Look at their general hunt locations, compare that with nearby public land. Swing through the State Fish & Game site for local info.

It’s best to time a hunt when the pups are up, mid June in SD, earlier further South.

Use google earth to fine tune prairie dog mounds, plan your approach. I like to travel light, no afraid to leave the truck. A low chair & shooting sticks is enough.
