reddog & firefox, Thank you for the replies...As i mentioned, this is a 16.5" barrel so i have the option of using it as a pistol or carbine, I will for now be using as a carbine as it will be lightweight and easy to manage while carrying...Im not interested in "hot" loads,, im looking for accuracy out to about 250-300 mainly for coyote an fox... And possibly an ear shot on a hog if the opportunity should arise....

I'm looking for 6x45 load data, specifically for 90 gr Berger BTHP match, preferably from Bergers manual. Can anybody help me out?
 
Any suggestions on a load for the Nosler BT in 55gr. using H335. The downloaded pdf of 6x45 loads gives two loads using H335 for Sierra 55gr. bullet. I was thinking of starting there.

Well I found a nice load with H335 and the Nosler 55 gr Ballistic tip. The average came out to 3245 fps. Should work on ground squirrels way out there. I was within the posted data for H335. I'm using a 24" barrel on a Rem. 700 action.

FWIW, have pretty much settled on using 25.8 gr of Ramshot Exterminator with Nosler 70 gr FB or BT Varmageddon bullets in my 6x45 rifle. Very good accuracy (3/8" 100 yd groups typical) for me with this load. Don't have a chronograph, but think this load is well over 2900 fps.

Dropped a nice size young boar pig with this load a couple of weeks ago at 100 yds.
Put the Nosler 70 gr FB between its eyes with a straight on head shot....the pig immediately dropped.
 
I have an AR15 chambered in 6X45. Trying to work up a load for 70 grain bullet using BLC-2. The load I am starting with is 28.5 grains with a Nosler 70 grain BT. Anybody shooting BLC-2 in their AR?
 
I will be trying some Accurate 2200 and 55 gr nosler ballistic tips from a 16 inch ar-15 (suppressed) this weekend. Hoping for some decent velocity, I will update when I get out.
 
Was able to get out yesterday and test loads. 6x45 16" x-caliber ar15 barrel with suppressor. With accurate 2200 and 55gr nosler ballistic tips I was able to get up over 3300 fps at just over max published load data but settled at just under the max and 3223 fps. Everything shot under 1" and the best was just under 0.2". COAL 2.26"

I've dialed mine in with 25.8 gr. of Benchmark under the 85 gr. Sierra HPBT's. Out of my 20" Shilen Select barrel groups are .25"-ish at 100 yds.
 
I just tried some AA2200 with Nosler 55 gr Varmageddon, tipped. Phenomenal velocity, but not the accuracy I get with Exterminator.

Barrel is 18" Black Hole Weaponry

27.8 gr of AA2200 was 1"+ for 3/100 yds, velocity of 3330 +/- 20 fps.
28.0 gr of AA2200 was 1.75" for 3/100 yds, with velocity from 3380-3425 fps. I think the barrel was not long enough to burn all the powder.

28.4 gr Exterminator was between ragged hole and under 1", with velocity of 3130 +/- 12 fps.

I really like the idea of the extra speed with AA200, but accuracy is final. I just loaded up a few more for a range trip tomorrow to give AA2200 another chance, but most likely will keep the Exterminator load
 
Hi All. I'm new to the 6x45. Here's what I built as an NRA match rifle (200, 300, 600 yd matches) and possibly for hunting: Lower: Magpul UBR Gen1 stock, Geissele HS Match trigger, Geissele 42 spring, H2 buffer, Tubb grip. Keystone-built 26" 1:7.5 Bartlein 5R stainless heavy-contour barrel, +2" (non-adjustable) gas system, AT3 Tactical 14" free-float handguard, AMBI (cutout) bolt release, Keystone one-piece 30mm scope mount, Minox ZE-5i 5-25 x 56 scope w/German #4 reticle, D&H Tactical 10-round (short magazine)

New Lapua .223 Match brass, neck expanded using an oversized Sinclair 6mm expander mandrel and graphite lubricant. Then, a Redding .223 FL bushing sizing die using wax lube. I don't insert any bushings, as the neck tension is sufficient after using the Sinclair mandrel. Lastly, ream primer pockets and trim to 1.745." In the Whidden gauge, they read 0.000" (Go) to -0.001". Primer: Rem 7-1/2. Powder dispensed with an RCBS Chargemaster and adjusted with an analytical balance for testing. Some preliminary results (LabRadar, 50F, 100 yds):

H4895, 70gr SMK, 2.30" OAL for (cutout) magazine feed
- 26.0gr, 3008fps
- 26.3gr, 3059fps
- 26.6gr, 3070fps
- 26.9gr, 3104fps
- 27.2gr, 3148fps
No pressure signs observed.

H4895, 90gr Berger Match Target, 2.31" OAL for (cutout) magazine feed
- 24.0gr, 2636fps
- 24.3gr, 2685fps
- 24.6gr, 2720fps
- 24.9gr, 2745fps (over-pressure signs: some primer cratering and light extractor marks)
- 25.2gr, 2752fps "
Tough to get more than 25gr in the case and seat this bullet, for a 2.31" OAL

H4895, 95gr SMK, 0.005" back of rifling (single load)
- 24.2gr, 2671fps
- 24.5gr, 2701fps

Varget, 107gr SMK, 0.005" back of rifling (single load)
- 25.5gr, 2615fps
- 25.8gr, 2653fps
- 26.0gr, 2674fps
- 26.2gr, 2689fps (over-pressure signs: some primer cratering and light extractor marks)
Was looking for 2700fps.

Shot a 591-24X in an early Fall NRA M-R match (3x300) with the 25.5 Varget, 107 SMK's. First string was 199-11X (90F that day).

Still some problems with the 90 Bergers and 70 SMK's not going fully into battery (jamming with about 1/8" - 1/16" to go) when mag fed. I know that Lapua brass neck thickness is greater...but they single load just fine, partially inserting them into the chamber then dropping the bolt. Neck turn? Go with thinner brass? Suggestions are very welcome...Tim

EFR, were you able to find a load with AA2200 that gave you better accuracy? I think this powder is the ticket for good velocity with 55 grain bullets in the 6x45, but like you said, accuracy is final.
 
This is my first post, so be gentle.

I am new to reloading, so forgive me if I should know the answer, but did I understand the charge weights in the table are averages of beginning loads? Is that the powder amount I start with, or should I reduce by a certain amount to start?

And, thank you to all the ones who take the time to post findings/experiences so others, like myself, can learn.
 
BBQ, the starting charge weight is the minimum for the particular bullet listed using a certain powder. The starting 10% lower is used for a maximum listed weight. Say a book gives you 45 grains of varget as a maximum load for a 168 grain bullet in a 308 winchester. So your starting load is 10% less of 45 grains. So you start at 40.5 grains and work your way up carefully.
 
The 10 percent reduction is if all you have is a maximum charge weight. So you need to start 10% lower. If its confusing look up nosler load data for what you are reloading. Their charts are very easy to use.
 
I understand the starting/maximum charge weights, if looking in a manual. My question was about the charge weights listed in the accumulated data table included in this thread.
