Another question for the board..... How hard would it be to ream my 6x45 ar to 6x47? How much would I gain? Is there any difference between the 6x47 and a 6mm/204?

Thanks in advance

John

Has anyone tried H4198 in the 6x45? It has a burn rate just ahead of VN133. I'm thinking of trying it with 55gr nosler BT or lead free BT. Any ideas?

I am using an 18" mid length BHW barrel.

My best loads to date are:

27.0 gr Benchmark, Win NT brass, 55 gr Nosler lead free, 3/4" ( 3 shot/100 yds) and +/- 2990 fps. Compressed load

28.4 gr Exterminator, LC brass (or ICC), 55 gr Nosler BT, 1/2"-1" (3 shot/100 yds), +/-3144 fps. Not as consistent accuracy as I would like.

In the loading data, what do the yellow highlighted loads mean? Are those loads unconfirmed? While still waiting for my DTech upper I decided to load up some loads this winter. One of the loads in the manual states you can use 28 gr of Varget with a 70 gr bullet. 28 gr of Varget fills up a 6x45 case almost to the top of the case mouth, you would not be able even seat a bullet.
Maybe I missed something in the reloading guide, about the loads highlighted in yellow.

great thread, i've been shootint the 6x45 and 6x47 since the early 1980"s for coyotes and it is a thumper.

I have a 6x 47 (222REM Mag) that I like very much...It is a short action model 10. The barrel was reworked heavy varmint that I had reworked. I have not measured or Chrono any loads but the coyotes and ground hogs I have killed don't know that.

I am hoping to spend more time this spring I am shooting 55 gr in mine but again I don't know speed. I love the cartridge

I'm new to the 6x45 and I am learning a lot from your information here. My questions are these:
Have any of you tried Accurate's AA2460 for the 6x45, and, if so, how is it working for you? I plan on using the 80 grain Barnes TTSX for hogs and Horandy 58 grain V-Max's for everything up to coyotes out of a Black Hole Weaponry 16" LTM barrel. The burn rate is a tad slower than the AA2230, so, is it a viable powder for the cartridge? I am also planning on trying Varget and IMR 8208XBR, but my questions are for AA2460. Thanks

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and see that this is an older thread. Is this load data still available? The link shows the destination as temporarily unavailable.

So, using those burn rates, I would look at your data and comparable powders and start there? As an example, a comparable powder is W748 @ 24.7 grains to 27.6 grains would average 26.2 grains for the 80 grain bullet category. So, my starting load for the 2460 should be 26.2 grains. Is my thinking correct? Thanks for the GREAT info and help.
