22-250 vs 243

EDP, if you have intrest in a 22-243, twist it fast and use 62- 75 gr bullets. If you are gonna shoot 55 and less, just use a 22-250.

Since you don't have a 243, get one !

As far as twist rate
I acquired a 243 in a rem VTR cool looking gun and I think it will be awesome on a axiom stock
It is a 1 / 9 twist that seams pretty fast to me

What are the benefits and pitfalls of a fast twist
I know stabilizing a heavy bullet but what else

I'm thinking I'll be shooting 55/58... Gr bullets not sure yet what Berger has to offer
Any input here would be appreciated

I don't save furs for the most part
That being said occasionally I shoot one that has a good coat I would like to save and a few bobcats too

9 twist in a 243 is standard and will get you 55-100s no problem, well most of the time. We all know each barrel has it's favorite bullets .

My old Rem really liked the 70gr NBT.

My pet load for my 22/250 over the years have been 33 GR. of IMR 3031 with either 50 OR 55 GR.JHP bullet or any of the Ballistic tip's that are out there now, & I also have used 38 Gr. of H 380 with any of the above bullets, for Ground Hogs & Coyotes with great success.

That's what I'm doing. I sure do like the 22 cal bullets going fast.

I have both .22-250 and .243 and like both. The .243 is on a Winchester Featerweight and the .22-250 is on a 700 VS.

If I were buying the VS over again I'd rather have it in .243, It's just more versatile. It shoots bullets from 58 gr to 100 gr. My .22-250 only likes one bullet, the Sierra 52 gr match. I've tried 50 gr and 55 gr but they refuse to shoot as well as the 52 gr.
