For those still buying the junk made in China:

"For decades, we were sending the bulk of our recycling to China — tons and tons of it, sent over on ships to be made into goods such as shoes and bags and new plastic products. But last year, the country restricted imports of certain recyclables, including mixed paper — magazines, office paper, junk mail — and most plastics."

The amount of waste that's created is insane. Almost everything now comes with packaging, and a lot of the time there is more packaging than there is product. And then there's the junk mail, it's ridiculous, less than 1 in 10 things that's delivered to my mailbox I even look at.

I'm a single guy and I have one of the standard size garbage bins with the flip top. When it gets to 3/4 full I take it to the curb, and last year I took it to the curb eight times at most, and that was after a full house cleaning to sell my place. There are many times I go more than 3 months before it's anywhere close to full and half of what it's filled with is junk mail. Then I see my neighbors, that each week their bins are too full to even be covered by the lid.

It's crazy that so few people pay any attention to this. Just brain dead robots that stare into their phones and scream about climate change when they're told.

It's not hard to cut back on creating waste. Don't buy things that are covered in layers and layers of packaging, buy as few things as possible that need to thrown away in the foreseeable future and don't buy trash food that comes in wrappers, boxes or cans or any combination of those.

Hard to buy things that do last very long any more. Even US made quality has gone to crap.

I'd be mad as heck if my NF scope did not come packaged. My brass order might be a tuff one without a package.

Taking out the trash here in Korea is a real chore.

I have to have 3 different bins. One for food waste, one for recyclables and one for "general trash."

The food trash is "anything you could feed your dog" type stuff. Scraps, trimmings, leftovers and peels/rinds

Anything recyclable goes in a clear bag. It needs to be washed first, then separated into 4 bins at the dump site. (Plastic, Plastic bags, glass, cans) The rest that is recyclable but not those 4 stays in the clear bag.

The last is the "general waste" bag. It is stuff like used tea bags, used tissues/paper towels, and anything not recyclable.

The general bag and food waste bag have to be purchased from the Gov't at the stores. They're cheap (1300 Won~ $1.10) for a dozen bags.

The threat of misuse is a 1,000,000 Won fine, or just about $1K USD.

To top that all off, the trash places around here used to ship everything across the Yellow Sea fro processing in China...they're no longer accepting the stuff, so it sits here and waits. The bigger problem is, the piles are catching fire and causing a nasty level of PM2.5 in the air.

All of the green weenies in the USA need to get out and explore other nations before they gripe about how "little" the US does for the environment!!

the thing is.. many in positions of power here in the US that are pushing it dont care.

its not about being green - they're watermelons. the green exterior just hides their statist/communist/Marxist red center. its about control for them.

the mASSES who follow them like sheep dont care either - they're too brainwashed.

like you say - we're probably one of the more environmentally friendly nations on the planet, but its always a push for more more more more.

i'm not trying to suggest that being environmentally conscious is a bad thing, just that the general "you're bad if you dont agree to " nonsense that they're shoving down our throats is redonkulus.

like the stupid video being promoted all over facebook, etc about the water soluble plastic substitute that was recently developed.

those idiots are directly promoting it as a replacement for - wait for it - bottled WATER containers and plastic drinking cups. among other things of course. maybe they can use it for making umbrella's too

not that this product doesnt have some serious potential, but good god are people dumb. science 101 says you cant store a solvent in a container made from the material its designed to dissolve.

And this modus operandi of the socialist movement in the US is common to every facet of your life, such as gun control, etc.

You would be doing yourself a big favor by giving up on cheap bean burritos wrapped in plastic.

A bean product that most likely has soy bases TVP to cut back on meat costs thats also wrapped in plastic that leeches estrogen mimickers.... No joke, measure the size of your testicles before and after you quite eating that junk, they will literally regain their natural size.

This terrible junk is the reason so many men need prescription drugs just to get their johnson working anymore.

OH, NOOOoo!

I'm gonna quit reading all you guys' doomsday posts. Not only do we have global warming threatening to flood Pike's Peak, then AOC warns the world will end in 12 years if we don't park our cars, quit flying and get rid of all cows, now you're threatening my Johnson if I don't stop eating beans!

I think I'll go back to bed!
