Sighting a lever-action

Maybe this is a stupid question, but how do you get a lever-action on paper after putting a scope on it? Is there a way to bore sight it?

How 'bout a boresighter that you can put on the end of your barrel via magnetic attracton? Leupold makes one with an internal grid for reference.

Otherwise, put a big target up @ 25yds, pull the trigger & take it from there...

If you call around to sporting goods shops that mount scopes most will have a bore sighter like knock'emdown mentioned. For a small charge they will bore sight your rifle. This will get you on paper at 25 yards, then move to a hundred.

You can also get one of the laser cartridges that shine a laser dot out the bore and again just match the scope cross hairs to the dot at 25 yards, then move to a hundred.

Cabela's and Midway sell those type of laser bore sighters, but by far the least expensive is to have a gunshop use a bore mounted bore sighter to begin with. I believe there is a Sportsman Warehouse over at Tri-cities and they will be able to do it.

Any of the bore siters will work lever action is not that much differant from a bolt action or semi. The Muzzel is the same and that is where a bore siter spud sets.

Go to your range and set a target with a fairly large paper backer up at 25 yards. Settle the rifle into your bags/rest and hold the crosshair dead on the center of the bull’s-eye. Fire one careful shot. Note where the bullet impacts. While holding the rifle and crosshair exactly the same as you did on the first shot, on the bull’s-eye, have someone click the scopes adjustments until the crosshair is now in the center of the bullet hole. As you look through the scope you can tell them - up, up, up - stop... now left, left, stop, ect.

Now you can move your target to 100 yards and you will be very close, usually closer than a simple bore sighting, to the center of the bull. If you want you can actually repeat the procedure at 100 with one shot, move the crosshair to the bullet hole, and then hold on the center to shoot your groups. You should be sighted in dead on at 100 yards with two shots that way. Of course you will want to shoot a few groups to verify your point of impact, but that method will get you really close, really fast.

only one suggestion to GC's method.

shot another shot after the scope is moved at the 25 yd target, just to make sure it's close.
