25-06 rate of twist?

Buying a new 25-06 in a tikka t3 lite or savage 111f the tikka has 14in. twist rate and the savage 10 both with roughly a 22 in. barrel.Witch rate best suits the 25-06 I dont reload if that helps in your thoughts.Every thing else is about the same so the rate is my only quistion.Thanks for any help! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

yote with 85 grain or so plus how would the same twist for say the 85 shoot the 120?

I'd go no less than a 1-10" for up to a 100-110grainer. Anything heavier, go 1-9". Hell, go 1-9" anyway...

as I said the tikka has a 1-14" and tha savage 1-10" 9 is not an option my bullet grain will be from 85 to 120?Plus how do you compare those two guns?

Both guns are generally good shooters for the $. I'd go Savage based on twist rate alone. The Tikka is set up for shootin' varmint bullets....

Why would "Tikka" twist their 25-06 barrels with 1/14???

Varmints/predators. Boolits up to 75gr or so......

It will shoot 120gr @ 1/14 but it won't like them. U'll be lucky to hit a pie plate @ 100yrds with it.

Wow! Tikka must have a fantastic inventory. Seems like a waste of steel to me. I wonder just how well a 14" 25-06 sells. 99 percent of folks in the market would just buy a .224.............wouldn't they?
