I am new to coyote hunting and have only used a shotgun on them. I am thinking about buying a .223 or .22-250 to use. Most shots will be under 150 yards.

Either or. Both are good for predators. There will be opinions storngly stated for both and other rounds. I use both but carry .22-250 most.

Heck, just use your current "deer" rifle. I use a 6.5 x 55 Swede with 120 gr. bullets (we do not save the pelts).
If you have to have a new rig, I'd go with the 223-also should be fine for any woodchucks in your area. Ammo is inexpensive and it's easy to load for.

bowhunter34, welcome to PM. Since you don't already have one, I'd grab the 223. It has plenty of knockdown power at those ranges. There's lots of ammo to choose from and maybe most importantly, lots of rifle choices, including semi-autos. MI VHNTR
