Greenhorn looking for a bit of mentoring

Hey folks. Now that I'm free of the wicked witch of the house, I'm bound and determined to break into the world of deer/elk hunting. I've seen the shows, read the books, and even looked over maps, but I'd really prefer to have somebody to go along with to make sure I don't do something really green.

I have maps of places to go, but have never been to any of them, so that's not much help. Anybody in the utah/salt lake valley wanna sit down and talk logistics?

I would but I gave it up about three-four years ago. Got tired of sending my money to Nevada for a Utah license. Also I hunted private property that got sold.
