For those of you without a Sierra Manual, and would like to see their data for the .223, here are a couple of links that you can display and print. Adobe Acrobat is required, as they are PDF files. (I didn't see any copyright info, and since they are displayed at a place other than Sierra, I suppose this is OK? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif )

Data for BOLT rifles: http://accurateshooter.net/Downloads/sierra223rembolt.pdf

Data for AR-15 rifles: http://accurateshooter.net/Downloads/sierra223ar.pdf

Have fun guys. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Actually if you call Sierra and ask to speak with their "bulletsmiths" or ballisitics guys they will send you any data you want for free. Email or postage, copied right from their book. I have many pages of updated material they have sent me for specific chamberings...gratis.

I wonder how old the Powder data is. I just looked at the AR 55gr and they say 26.3 is max load giving 3100 fps. The data I got with my keg of Tac last month lists 24.0 as max for 55 grain and after looking at my primers I would agree. I was getting around 3100 fps with 23.9 gr. Standard reloading practices have to come into play, take this data along with any other you can find and average it out and start low to work up.

Not sure about the age of the data.

Notice also that they are specifying Remington 7 1/2 primers with their AR loads. Those are a little thicker, and won't show pressure signs as soon as some others.

But you are correct. ANY data should be taken with a little caution and loads developed with safety in mind.

SKB...didn't know that Sierra was that free with their info. Thanks for the heads-up.
