Holycow CDR. Thanks a million for the info. I can't even imagine the time and effort involved in gathering those numbers. The only question I have is the difference between the Marlin 917VS "A" and "B". Once again, thank you.

You're welcome. They tested two different Marlin and two different Ruger rifles, that's why the A and B designations.

I got the info off Rimfire Central.

I spent a lot of time reading about the various options before I made my choice. It appears that you can expect very good accuracy from Marlin, Savage or CZ. There will be variations from rifle to rifle, but virtually any of them will require a bit of tweaking, either in bedding or triggers to get the best possible performance. The only reason I chose the CZ452 Varmint is that I liked the way it felt and looked. If I was just after an accurate rifle, I would expect that either the Marlin or Savage would be equally acceptable, and at a lower cost.
