Hi,
I went hunting today and our group shot three coyotes so I striped all of the tails and some are wet and some are covered in blood how do i wash the coyote tails and preserve them.
Before I have salted them down and let them sit for a week then I washed them in dog shampoo they have not rotted yet but thinking they will soon.
any input would help.
Thanks,

I save every tail that doesn't have mainge. All I do is pull it (tubed) and fill it full of any laundry powder, let it sit until dry then wash out and wash the fur. I give them all to the cat and she loves them. I have not had one rot yet and some of them are still around after a year or so.

I tube them, wash them in dog shampoo several times, shake the hell out of them, blow dry the outside with the wifes dryer and stuff them full of Borax (using a wooden chopstick or a handgun cleaning rod) hang to dry...No bugs, nada...Once they are dry give them a light combing with the cats brush.....
