Can someone break down the eye color of different animals at night when the lighthits them?

deer=green
coyote=orange
racoon=etc.
etc.

If an animal has cataracs it will cause them to have different eye color when light hits them, so don't count on eye color for animal identification with a light at night.

You can shine family pets at night and see this at times, but in my opinion nothing is safer or better than seeing the whole animal before taking a shot. Not saying that your implying shooting by eye color at night by any means. Just that eye color can change in animals with eye problems or disease.

if you use a red lens they all are red and he is right about the color can be differnt!! some guys say they can tell but i think it's better to see the body!!! welcome

I can usually tell what it is by how it moves or acts, but they are right you can't tell by eye color. Don't take the shot unless you see the body. You'll end up with a dead deer or cow and one less place to hunt.

Later,
Justin
