Had a free afternoon and could not coyote hunt so I loaded up some rounds with IMR4895 38.5gr,75gr VMax,CCI LR primer,2.710 OAL.Temp was high 30`s with a 8-10 MPH tailwind at the 100yd range.Rifle was Ruger1 243 with 6-24x mil dot and my "custom" rest. With deer gun season in full swing I had the range to myself.

I shot 5 rapid shots at the left 1" dot and let the rifle cool. Then shot 5 rapid shots at the right dot and determined I should should use -1 mil @ 24x and let the rifle cool. Then shot 5 at the left bull allowing the rifle to cool between shots. Then 5 shots at the right bull allowing allowing the rifle to cool between shots.
Then Shot 5 at top bull with rifles pet load of 44gr H414,70gr NBT,WLRM primer, 2.710 OAL.As evident by the pics I used -1 mil twice..... for the 2 shots touching exactly 3" low

I like the way IMR 4895 meters...probably not the best powder for .243 but certainly usable IMO with some tweaking here and there.Like I said it was a free afternoon and it sure was a fun controlled experiment with a basic starting load.

Back when I had a model 70 XTR 243 Win, I shot the Nosler 70 gr BT with 39.5 grs of IMR4895. This load was refered to as the "club load" because it shot well under MOA for 6-7 different guys.

I am shooting 38.0grs. of H-4895 behind a 80gr. Speer Hot Core Spitzer out of a 15" .243 T/C Encore. Average Velocity is 2920 FPS out of the 15" Barre and most 5 shot groups at 100 yards can be covered with a 25 cent piece. So far I am quite pleased with this load.

imr4895 is my favorite for my 243. No matter if its with the Nosler 55gr BT or the Nosler 95gr BT. I dont have my load data handy but with the 55gr I was shootin 3900fps+ at .5 to 1gr under max load. and this was my most accurate load. under .5" @100. Havent chony'd the 95gr's but I am getting excellant results in accuracy.
