Hey guys I need some help I live in idaho and I have tried calling bears with no luck. But I also don't know anyone that does it. So how do they do it? I have called non-stop. I have called in series. I just don't know if it really works. What am I doing wrong? I can call in anything else I try but I can't get the big bad bear.
 
A friend was calling elk a couple of years ago. He looked left .... a big bear bearing right in on him .... he looked right .... another big bear RIGHT AT HIM ... he shot the closest one and the other split.

Moral of the story ..... none except it's all luck as to whether you are calling to an empty house or not and if the occupants are hungry.

But you do make your luck.

In your state can you bait?

I would try it if it's legal just to "find" the bears and get'em "socialable".

Try using calf elk sounds. I have called a few blackies in unintentionaly over the years while elk hunting, I seldom use calf calls anymore. Keep your eyes and ears open you might call call a big kitty, also. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
