What are the qualification for trophies on each?

What is consdiered/defined as free ranged?

Does SCI support High fence hunts? If so I am glad I have never been a member. Is the SCI non-profit organizatin same ones that run the scoring/trophy setup?

Just wanted some clarification. Is Pope and young same as boone and crockett just for bow hunters?

I have heard that SCI will enter a high fence killed animal. Don't know if it's true though so I'm reserving judgement. OTOH, I'm not joining either!

P&Y is just for bow hunters. P&Y measures the same as B&C and both are very serious about supporting fair chase.

Some trad bow hunters want another org to enter trad bow kills only. Not sure I support that.

I killed one B&C animal in my life and got it measured, etc, but never sent the entry in.

Here's a link to the general B&C rules: http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgRecords/records_policies.asp?area=bgRecords

Their definition of fair chase specifically includes the words "free ranging". They don't take known "high fence" animals, as they aren't considered "free ranging" no matter how large the ranch is. They do allow baiting, feeders, and blinds (where legal).

They accept any method of harvest (including finding the trophy in the wild or at a garage sale) since they "score the trophy not the hunter". They are limited to North America.

Safari Club International (SCI) also requires "fair chase", but their requirements CAN include high fence, depending on the operation. They are worldwide.

This from their code of ethics: "To comply with all game laws, in the spirit of Fair Chase, and to influence companions accordingly." http://www.safariclub.org/static/index.cfm?contentID=146

I believe both are 501(c)(3) nonprofits.
