Just not close enough. We are still new to this sport and learning though.
We went out and set up at mid day today. Got a couple shots off at a running coyote we saw on the way in. 250 yards leaving town.
We then set and called for 30 minutes. Nothing. Moved on down about 1000 yards and set up again. Called for 15 minutes and heard a reply. Looked up the ridge and saw two dogs, then four and then spotted two more coming. They all joined up and sat on the skyline about 1200 yards away. They wouldn't come in, so after about 15 minutes we moved up (one at a time in a low crouch using a fence line) and closed the gap to about 600 yards. They got nervous and started milling around. We hit a fence we could get through and figured they would get way to nervous if we hop'd over the 5 strand barb wire. So we stood up and watched them leave.
Oh well seeing 7 in an afternoon is lot better than past attemps.
