Grandson brought over a model 94 with a very loose but stock he had galled the head of the screw may have to be replaced .anyone have any suggestions on tightening the stock.

If it is loose when screw is tight, might try a little Acraglas to tighten up the bedding.

Check the stock for cracks around the base, if the wood appears in good shape, replace the screw! or, I have also used a dremel to cut a straight head across a flat head bold & tightened them further with a flat head screwdriver. You may also have to add a washer to the screw/bolt if the wood where the bolt seats is smashed. As already stated, this would be a good place to use some epoxy. I like JB weld! its easy to find & as strong as it gets.

I had the same problem with a 1894 Marlin a couple years ago. It was just a little loose, so a couple layers of plumbers teflon tape in the top and bottom channels shimmed it just enough.
