What's wrong with people today?

Got up this morning and like every morning, turned on the TV to the news and weather and three more shootings in Tulsa last night and a guy arrested at an AT&T store carrying an AR and a cowboy pistol and wearing body armor. I used to think a lot was political related but I have doubts that these people could tell you what day it was let alone who is POTUS. None were "mass" shootings, just the same thing it seems like we hear about every day. I'm sure, well maybe that's a wrong choice of words, maybe I think, that some of these are drug related, but its every day. Makes you wonder if its even safe to leave the house these days.

Society has drifted away from faith and religious beliefs.
People aren’t teaching morals and respect to the youth.
Everyone gets a participation trophy as a child.
There’s no recourse for laziness and no appreciation or acknowledgment of hard work.
Harder economic times than most have ever experienced.

My wife is a teacher in our local public school system. They were told to do away with recognizing first and second honor roll for the kids making good grades, and other things like attendance, etc. Teachers aren’t allowed to give grades below a 60, because the system doesn’t want kids to fail. Our former Governor did away with advanced classes as an option for the kids to take in high school grades.

These are just a few things that come to mind with what’s contributing to why we are where we are as a society.

Growing up in a small rural town we didn't have a lot to do but fight each other. Usually after the fight was over, we would go get drunk together. Happened several times I remember. Never ever did I ever feel the need to kill someone. Can't say some people wouldn't be better off but not by my hands. Ya, I'd been mad enough but not stupid enough. I always had the thought that they weren't worth spending my life behind bars and worrying about some big inmate named Bubba wanting to poke fun at me. Does this never cross the mind of a shooter thinking about the afterwards? Maybe this is where the "Mental" issues come to play. They live for the moment and not concern themselves about what happens later....if they live. Maybe Capitol Punishment should be mandatory. At least life sentences with no exceptions and no parole.

i think this is one of the biggest issues we have right now.

everyone's precious little crotch-fruit can do no wrong and everyone wins just for showing up.

we've completely stopped teaching coping mechanisms for what happens when you get to the real world. nobody knows how to lose with grace and look at those events as a learning opportunity. they're taught to be perpetual victims. theres no longer a 'go back and get em next time by improving yourself' mindset. its always someone elses's fault.

theyre only taught entitlement and that they're supposed to be treated like everyone else when they fail, or that they always fail due to someone else holding them back - and the real world doesnt work that way.

throw in the fact that kids arent ALLOWED to fight back against their bullies anymore (thank you zero tolerance fighting rules BS), add in the social media they cant get away from it outside of school factor and you've got a recipe for a lot of the mental health issues that are seemingly everyday common now - or way more so than they were 20+ years ago - anxiety, depression, etc

so these kids find out that everything they've been taught is a lie (you dont get ahead for being an outcast loser with no work ethic, you cant fight back on those picking on you, etc), turn then loose on the real world, add in a bunch of media hysteria keeping the stress turned up to 11 all the time, and then they glorify these shooters for WEEKS on end every time one of these events happen....

of course some kid who's stressed out, anxiety ridden on their future, depressed because they get made fun of, has no support system at home and looking for attention is gonna go there. they dont know that bad press = not good. all they care about is someone finally acknowledging their existence.

do i think this is the end-all-be-all reasons?

not at all.

but they're sure a few big ticket items at the upper end of the list thats for [beeep] sure.

Plant you hit on some good points.

I think the reason for some of the points is that teachers consciously or unconsciously are teaching socialism.

Kids are being taught that socialism/communism levels the field for all and all are equal.

And that is right. Everyone is equal. Nobody has got anything. Everyone is poverty level.

I believe a certain percentage of people where born EVIL. Children have murdered other children. Why is that? I beleive others may develop an EVIL soul over time. "Open the door to EVIL, EVIL will step in". Take bullies for example. Why are they bullies? Nature vs Nurture? Who knows?

I'm an easy going guy. However when painted into a corner by an aggressor. I'm not beyond EVIL violence. As I'm NO willing victim, ever.

I visit another site once in a while. I won't mention the name, doesn't matter. But they are the most hateful, spiteful group of people I have ever seen. Some call themselves Christians but because some of the congregation is of a different political group they want them out of the church. Lots of just plain nasty remarks. How can you be a true Christian and hate your fellow man that bad just because he doesn't vote the same as you? I have lots of GOOD friends on both sides and even though we don't always agree, I don't hate them or wish harm on them. If adults are acting this way, what are they teaching their children? Hate is easy to teach to the young. Peace and forgiving maybe not so easy. Maybe we should try a little harder to get along. There's more than enough violence in the world today. Every disagreement doesn't have to be settled with acts of violence.
