204 45 gr sp load

You will probably need a 1/10 twist barrel to stabilize the 45 gr bullets. A 11 twist could work, most 204 ruger factory barrels are 1/12".

The 45 gr. bullet is actually shorter than the 40 gr. V-max and should stabilize okay in your 1/12, but as you probably already know that bullet has been discontinued, so I hope you have a big supply of them already.

Berger bullet stability calculator(1.29) has 1/12 as marginal, they recommend 1/11. So your 1/10 will work great. I have some on the shelf, looks like a nasty bullet.

Yes they will stabilize just fine with a 1/12 twist. I’ve had 3 different rifles in .204 Ruger, a Thompson Contender, a Ruger Hawkeye and a CZ 527 and all were 12 twists and I’ve shot ALOT of Hornady 45 grain softpoints they are accurate and do a real good job on Coyotes both killing them and not blowing them up. RL15 has worked great for me and if I remember off the top of my head it was like 26.3 grains
