And So Goes the Crisis on the Southern Border****UPDATED 8 APRIL 2024

As mentioned above, just to name a few, not only has he renewed building of the wall, initiated TNG/DPS patrols along the border, set up lighting, concertina wire and shipping container barricades @ active illegal crossing points, most recently, in his spare time he's managed to get all four Mexican state governors to sign on to an agreement to initiate patrols of their own on the south side of the Rio Grande to help stop human and drug trafficking by the Mexican cartels.

And then there's this:

Republican governors form 26-state border task force amid worsening crisis

More than half of U.S. governors have banded together in an effort to respond to rising illegal migration at the southern border absent meaningful help from the Biden administration.

Republican Govs. Greg Abbott of Texas and Doug Ducey of Arizona announced the formation of the 26-state American Governors' Border Strike Force on Tuesday, a day after the Biden administration released data that revealed more people were encountered trying to enter the United States illegally from Mexico in March than any month in 22 years.

"This is not just an Arizona issue, it’s a national issue," Ducey said in a statement. "If our entire southern border isn’t secure, our nation isn’t secure. As dangerous transnational criminal organizations continue to profit from holes in the border and fill our communities with drugs, it’s no coincidence that we’re seeing historic levels of opioid-related deaths."

The 26 states, all led by Republican governors, will work as a "force multiplier in the fight against criminal activity directly tied to our border" by increasingly sharing intelligence on state-level crimes, going after the profits that Mexican cartels make by smuggling people and narcotics, and enhancing patrols of major interstate highways near the border in an effort to interdict more smuggling operations.

BORDER CITY WARNS BIDEN: 'NO AMOUNT OF PREPARATION' WILL LIMIT TITLE 42 DISASTER

Last summer, a handful of Republican governors deployed state law enforcement and military to Texas to assist border security efforts. Those troops and police have since been pulled back to their home states, unable to sustain the cost of long-term deployments.

Under Texas's Operation Lone Star effort to help federal law enforcement at the border, its National Guard and Department of Public Safety officers have encountered more than 225,000 illegal immigrants who would likely have slipped into the U.S. without being detected.

In October 2021, 10 Republican governors introduced a 10-step plan that they asked the Biden administration use as a road map to regaining control of the southern border.

The other 24 states in the task force are Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

I wonder how many on the US side of the border are under the direct control of the cartels.
Both the Mexican government and the US government has to know what is going on.
Therefore both governments want this to happen.
Would almost make a fellow wonder who is getting paid.

Psaki was asked if White House feels responsible for death of TX Natl Guardsman. Her answer is infuriating.

Quote:“Does the White House feel at all responsible?” Heinrich asked. “And what more can you offer to people who you know are on the border, in border communities who are experiencing loss and trials like this?”

Psaki replied,” Well of, of course, we are mourning the loss of his life and we are grateful for the work of every National Guardsman, I would note that the National Guard work for the states, so he is an employee of the Texas National Guard and his efforts and his operation were directed by there, not by the federal government.”

But it expires in only two weeks. Illegal traffic on the southern border expected to skyrocket to an all time high of as many as 18,000 per day.

Mayorkas opened his statement to congress yesterday by pointing how successful this administration had been in handling "the broken immigration system they had inherited! Whaaat!!!?

He then outlined his "plans" for this severe surge, which he admits will overwhelm border agents. These plans are not aimed at stemming the illegal flow, but only in speeding up the "processing" procedures in order to get them on the road north more efficiently as to avoid bottlenecks along the border. Key elements of the plan included:

He confirmed that one of the key pieces in his plan is to divert VA funds and/or personnel to the border, as has been rumored recently.

Other measures being considered are:

1) talking with foreign governments in an effort to determine the "root causes" of illegal exodus. (Wait! I thought the VP took a trip down south and handled that, already.

)

2) Entering in agreements w/other countries to assist in controlling the illegal flow before it reaches our border. (Governor Abbott kinda stole their thunder on this one, didn't he!?

Update 16 May 22

More than 234,000 encounters on southern border in March!

More than half of them were released!

113,000 were deported, 97,000 of which were under Title 42 which is scheduled to end on May 23.

March and April border Encounters totaled over 495,450 based on CBP reports! This number does not include the "getaways".

Border Agents Encounter Record 260,450 Illegal Immigrants in April
By Charlotte Cuthbertson
May 18, 2022 Updated: May 18, 2022

DEL RIO, Texas—Border officials processed a record 260,450 illegal and inadmissible aliens during April, according to newly released Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data.

More than 202,300 illegal border crossers were apprehended by Border Patrol agents, while an additional 58,140 individuals presented themselves at ports of entry—21,137 of whom were Ukrainians.

The numbers are an increase of almost 68 percent over fiscal 2021 numbers, which was a record-breaking year on its own.

The number of apprehensions is markedly higher than any April on record, including during the past 10 years, when apprehensions ranged from a low of 11,000 in 2017 to 99,273 in 2019—until last year when April hit 173,701.

Border Patrol agents in Texas are the busiest, with more than 128,000 arrests during April—an average of 4,260 per day. Along the whole southwest border, agents are apprehending an average of 6,700 illegal aliens per day.

Department of Homeland Security officials are warning of an increase in illegal crossings, up to 18,000 per day, once the Title 42 public health authority is revoked. It’s currently set to expire on May 23, pending a Louisiana judge’s decision.

During April, almost 94,700 illegal immigrants (almost 70,000 of whom were Mexican nationals) were quickly expelled under Title 42, while 107,310 were processed under Title 8 immigration law and ushered into the United States.

“The fact is that our borders are not open, and we will continue to remove those who enter our country unlawfully and have no legal basis to stay,” CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus said in a statement.

“After many months of planning, we are executing a comprehensive strategy to safely, orderly, and humanely manage our borders. CBP is surging personnel and resources to the border, increasing processing capacity, securing more ground and air transportation, and increasing medical supplies, food, water, and other resources to ensure a humane environment for those being processed, screened, and vetted.”

CBP’s focus has been to increase its ability to quickly release illegal aliens from Border Patrol custody, including the widespread use of parole authority that was in the past used sparingly, or as a stop-gap measure.

Under parole status, illegal immigrants don’t have to provide Border Patrol with evidence of credible fear for asylum and are permitted entry for one year without any preconditions, except a quick background check in the U.S. crime database.

During April, Border Patrol agents released more than 40,000 illegal aliens as parolees—15,000 more than in March.

Border Patrol agents have arrested 5,985 illegal alien criminals since Oct. 1, 2021, the beginning of the fiscal year. The types of crimes listed by CBP include assault, domestic violence, homicide, sexual offenses, driving under the influence, and illegal reentry into the United States.

The number of criminal arrests over the past six fiscal years has fluctuated wildly, often decreasing in years that Border Patrol agents are dealing with large influxes of border crossers. Cartels and human smuggling groups often tie up Border Patrol resources by sending a large group of asylum-seekers to one area, while sending criminals, drugs, and other contraband to a nearby, unpatrolled area.

CBP doesn’t publish its estimated number of illegal aliens that Border Patrol agents detect, but don’t capture—known as “gotaways.”

However, CBP statistics provided to The Epoch Times from a source inside the agency indicate that more than 58,000 illegal immigrants evaded apprehension in April, with Tucson, Arizona, and Del Rio, Texas, being the two busiest sectors for “gotaways.”

Border Patrol is also encountering illegal aliens from around 160 countries.

During April, of the agency’s almost 202,000 apprehensions, 84,536 were from countries other than Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, or El Salvador.

“We are addressing a level of migration that is historic,” Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said during a press conference in McAllen, Texas, on May 17.

He said the population of Costa Rica is currently approximately 2 percent Nicaraguan as individuals move north.

Mayorkas said they’re leaving Nicaragua, and other countries, “by reason of so many different factors—economic despair, violence, distress caused by natural disasters, all made more acute, all aggravated, of course, by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Border agents have apprehended an average of 13,000 Nicaraguans per month so far this fiscal year, according to CBP data.

Mayorkas has defended his handling of the border, telling Congress in late April hearings that his agency has “operational control” of the border.

The highest number of apprehensions recorded in a fiscal year since the formation of the Border Patrol was 1.69 million in fiscal 1986. This year is on track to hit well above that record, with a current almost 1.3 million apprehensions and five months remaining in 2022.

Migrant caravan traveling through Mexico to US could soon be largest ever

by Anna Giaritelli, Homeland Security Reporter |

AUSTIN, Texas — Thousands of migrants have formed a massive caravan determined to travel by foot from southern Mexico to the United States's southern border, specifically Texas.

A group of between 6,000 and 11,000 people departed Tapachula, a city near Mexico’s border with Guatemala, Monday, according to multiple reports. The caravan was organized by Luis Garcia Villagran, who organized previous unsuccessful caravans from southern Mexico in 2021 that never made it to the U.S.

Unlike Villagran’s previous attempts, this effort is expected to grow to 15,000 participants, which would make it the largest group since the phenomenon of mass migration movements began early on in the Trump administration. The timing of this latest caravan is no coincidence, according to Villagran.

Leaders from across the Western Hemisphere will meet in Los Angeles this week for the Summit of the Americas, where the Biden administration is expected to announce new cooperation pacts to stem and address migration issues across the hemisphere.

The pacts will likely send a message to migrants that they will not be permitted to travel to the U.S. or other countries. However, migrants told reporters that they have grown frustrated with Biden's promise as a candidate to reform the asylum system, as well as his administration's ban on asylum-seekers during the coronavirus pandemic.

"These are countries collapsing from poverty and violence," Villagran told Reuters. "We strongly urge those who attend the summit ... to look at what is happening, and what could happen even more often in Mexico, if something is not done soon."

A 35-year-old Colombia man, Robinson Reyes, hopes the movement catches the attention of leaders in Los Angeles.

"We want a future for our children ... we want to cross Mexico without any problems," Robinson said. "God willing, they can talk and resolve this."

"He promised the Haitian community he will help them," Haitian migrants told Fox News on June 3. "He will recall Title 42. He will help us have real asylum. ... Now we need him to keep his promise."

The group embarked early Monday despite a rainstorm overhead. The caravan quickly took over multiple highway lanes, blocking vehicular traffic from getting through.

Members of the caravan are overwhelmingly not coming from Central America or Mexico, countries that have historically been encountered at the U.S. border. People from Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela make up the majority of caravaners.

The group plans to travel along Mexico’s eastern coast to Texas, where Gov. Greg Abbott claimed in an interview with the Washington Examiner in March that his deployment of 10,000 National Guard soldiers and state troopers under a border security operation had deterred caravans from coming to Texas.

Villagran said the group was not stopped by the Mexican military, federal immigration officials, and state police when they got to a checkpoint in the state of Chiapas.

Men Arrested in July 4 Mass Shooting Plot Are Illegal Immigrants

The two men arrested for allegedly planning to attack a July 4 celebration in Virginia are both in the United States illegally, with one having been deported twice, according to U.S. officials and court documents.

Julio Alvarado-Dubon, 52, was arrested on July 1 for allegedly plotting the mass shooting with Rolman Balacarcel, 38, who was arrested on July 5.

Both were charged with being non-U.S. citizens in possession of firearms.

Initial documents filed in General District Court in Richmond say the men are in the U.S. illegally. The documents say Alvarado-Dubon has an expired visa.

Both men are Guatemalan nationals, an official with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed to The Epoch Times in an email.

Balacarcel was deported twice from the United States before, the official said, once in October 2013 and again in August 2014.

Immigration detainers were placed on both men.
Bond

Court documents note bond was set at $15,000 for Alvarado-Dubon, but the Richmond City Jail, where he was booked, still lists him as an inmate.

Colette McEachin, the commonwealth’s attorney for the city, told WRIC-TV reported that Dubon was released and that her office objected to the decision to grant bond.

“Nevertheless, the General District Court judge granted a bond and decided on the $15,000 amount himself,” she said.

The lawyer listed for Dubon declined to comment. His next hearing is on Aug. 2. Authorities in Richmond did not respond to queries.

Balacarcel remains in custody, Col. Martin Kumer, superintendent of the Albermarle County Jail, told The Epoch Times via email.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Balacarcel had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

Richmond police officials said in an earlier briefing that a tipster from a “hero citizen” led police to an apartment Dubon and Balacarcel shared. Dubon let officers inside, where they saw “clear evidence” backing the tipster, Richmond Police Chief Gerald Smith told reporters at a briefing.

The pair were planning to “shoot up” the Independence Day event at the Dogwood Dell amphitheater, which seats 2,400 and is located outdoors, according to officials. A concert and fireworks were held for the event.

The charge each man faces is a class 6 felony. Under Virginia law, the charge can bring a term of imprisonment of one to five years.

Border Agents Falsely Accused of Whipping Had Careers ‘Ruined’ by Biden: Union Chief

By Charlotte Cuthbertson and Zachary Stieber

DEL RIO, Texas—The U.S. Border Patrol agents who were falsely accused of striking illegal immigrants at the U.S.–Mexico border have had their careers “ruined” by President Joe Biden, the head of the agency’s union told The Epoch Times.

“Their careers were ruined by this president,” said Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council.

A slew of media outlets in the fall of 2021 claimed that Border Patrol agents on horseback had whipped Haitian aliens who were entering the United States by crossing the Rio Grande at Del Rio, Texas. The outlets later backtracked on the claims.

But multiple government officials, including Biden, used similar language.

Biden told reporters he observed that the agents had “strapped” the immigrants, calling what happened “outrageous.”

“I promise you, those people will pay. They will be—an investigation is underway now, and there will be consequences. There will be consequences. It’s an embarrassment. But beyond an embarrassment, it’s dangerous; it’s wrong. It sends the wrong message around the world. It sends the wrong message at home. It’s simply not who we are,” he said at the time.

However, an internal review released on July 8 said there was “no evidence” that agents “struck any person, intentionally or otherwise.” Further, U.S. prosecutors declined to charge any of the agents involved, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed.

“The president accused them of a criminal act. He has not apologized for that,” Judd told The Epoch Times.

He said he doesn’t expect Biden or Vice President Kamala Harris, who said she was “outraged” by the treatment of illegal immigrants, to apologize.

The White House didn’t respond to a request for comment.

The agents were quickly placed on administrative duty after the widespread coverage of the incident on Sept. 19, 2021. At the time, as many as 30,000 mostly Haitian illegal immigrants had entered the United States and created a makeshift camp under a bridge that connects Del Rio, Texas, and Mexico’s Ciudad Acuña, while waiting to be processed by Border Patrol. Rumors of a riot had been circulating as conditions deteriorated.

Four agents are facing disciplinary charges, CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus told reporters during a briefing on July 8. According to the report, that includes an agent who acted unprofessionally by shouting at an illegal immigrant and nearly coming into contact with a small child on the concrete ramp leading out of the river.

On multiple occasions, mounted agents “used force or the threat of force to drive migrants back into the Rio Grande River despite the fact they were well within the territorial boundary of the United States,” the report stated.

“We’re not going to be discussing specifics of the disciplinary proposals today. But when it’s appropriate to do so, we will make the final disciplinary actions public consistent with the privacy rights of the individual employees,” Magnus, a Biden appointee, told reporters.

The Border Patrol union is representing three agents; the fourth person facing discipline is a supervisor, according to Judd.

He said he fears investigators “had no choice but to find some sort of fault” given the quick condemnation from Biden, Harris, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“And the fault that they found is some of the flimsiest I’ve ever seen in my 25-year career. In seeing disciplinary proposals time and time again, I have never seen a more flimsy proposal,” Judd said.

He said the situation has been “absolutely demoralizing” to agents because the agents involved were performing a legitimate law enforcement operation.

A Border Patrol agent in the Del Rio Sector, speaking on condition of anonymity because of fear of repercussions, told The Epoch Times that agents on the ground were set up by leadership for failure in a “no-win situation,” because of a lack of manpower and capability to effectively handle the flood of illegal aliens who were entering the United States on the day in question.

“With regard to the horse patrol, we know what happened. Agents know what happened. Leadership knows what happened. And instead of backing their agents for doing the best they could with what little they had, our leaders ‘Monday morning quarterbacked’ from their comfy offices and went on a fishing expedition, looking for reasons to get agents in trouble to appease those in this administration,” the agent said. “Our leaders need to quit saying Honor First and start living Honor First.”

Biden Administration Makes Two Big Changes to Help Illegal Immigrants

By Zachary Stieber
July 16, 2022 Updated: July 16, 2022

President Joe Biden’s administration has made two major changes to immigration policies by re-interpreting federal law.

Immigrants, many illegal, from certain countries are shielded from deportation and allowed to be legally employed if the secretary of homeland security decides their home country meets certain conditions.

The designation is known as Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Fifteen countries are currently designated, including Afghanistan, El Salvador, Somalia, Ukraine, and Venezuela. Hundreds of thousands, possibly millions, of immigrants from those countries are protected.

Up until July, those protected by TPS had to remain in the country unless they received approval to travel.

If TPS beneficiaries did leave the country and returned, they’d have the same status—illegal or legal—when they returned, based on language from Miscellaneous and Technical Immigration and Naturalization Amendments, even though they could remain temporarily protected by TPS.

But U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which handles the nation’s legal immigration system, has changed that policy.

Now, all beneficiaries that return will be “inspected and admitted,” a bureaucratic term that means one has entered the country legally. “This is true even if the TPS beneficiary was present without admission or parole when initially granted TPS,” USCIS said in an alert (pdf).

“That basically launders the fact that they came here illegally and that will put them on the path to a green card,” Jessica Vaughan, policy studies director at the Center for Immigration Studies, told The Epoch Times.

“This is an end run on U.S. immigration law, and Congress,” added Emilio Gonzalez, who directed USCIS during the George W. Bush administration. “It really is a left-handed way of legalizing people.”

USCIS said in its alert that the change stemmed from a court decision, guidance from the lawyers at its parent agency, the Department of Homeland Security, and an evaluation of current and past policy. The agency did not respond to requests for comment.
Supreme Court

The Supreme Court in 2021 ruled that immigrants who receive TPS are not admitted for purposes of obtaining legal permanent residency.

“A grant of TPS does not cure a foreign national’s entry without inspection or constitute an inspection and admission of the foreign national,’” Justice Elena Kagan, an Obama appointee, wrote in the 9–0 decision.

But USCIS seized on a footnote in the ruling, in which the court said it was not expressing a view on whether a parole enables a TPS recipient to become a legal permanent resident. The secretary of homeland security can parole an illegal immigrant, which allows them to enter or remain in the country legally.

The USCIS also cited a decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, which said that the law mandates TPS beneficiaries who travel outside the country be inspected and admitted upon returning, and be treated as entering the United States legally, even if they originally entered illegally.

The DHS Office of General Counsel, on the request of USCIS, reviewed the rulings and the law and concluded that USCIS was “well within its authority” to rescind Trump era guidance and allow illegal immigrants to use leaving the country and coming back to become legal.

“This is just a transparent workaround that I believe is illegal, and almost certainly is going to be challenged,” Vaughan said.

Another Big Change

The Immigration and Nationality Act, says that immigrants who were illegally in the United States and left cannot re-enter for a certain period of time. Illegal immigrants who were in the country for less than one year have to wait three years to be able to re-enter the country; those who were present for one year or more would be inadmissible unless he or she waits 10 years to re-enter.

The immigrants were expected to wait outside the United States, to comply with the law.

USCIS, though, is now saying that an immigrant can be inside the United States, and that will not reset the clock.

“The statutory 3-year or 10-year period begins to run on the day of departure or removal (whichever applies) after accrual of the period of unlawful presence. This statutory period continues to run, without interruption, regardless of whether or how the noncitizen returned to the United States during the 3-year or 10-year period. Thus, it is immaterial whether the noncitizen has spent the applicable statutory 3-year or 10-year period in or out of the United States,” USCIS says in its policy manual.

The change was made on June 24 to be consistent with two recent court rulings and an unpublished Department of Justice Board of Appeals decision, the agency said in an alert on the alteration.

“This is basically an invitation for any deported alien to pay the cartels to smuggle them back into the U.S. while they let the clock run out,” Rob Law, who headed the USCIS policy office during the Trump administration and directs the America First Policy Institute’s Center for Homeland Security and Immigration, told the Washington Times, which first reported on the update.
Court Decisions

The move stemmed from two 2020 rulings.

In the first, a Japanese woman overstayed her nonimmigrant status by five years. She left voluntarily in 2003 but returned just two years later, well before the 10-year period mandated in the law.

While she didn’t follow U.S. immigration law, her lawyer argued she shouldn’t have been denied permanent residency when she applied for it in 2019 because she was married to a United States citizen and because over 10 years had elapsed.

Government lawyers said that aliens to whom the law applies “must remain outside of the country for the entire duration of the inadmissibility period” and, if they do not, they cannot be admitted.

U.S. District Judge Consuelo Marshall, a Carter appointee, ruled for the plaintiff, agreeing on the argument that over 10 years had gone by before Yayomi Kanai asked for residency.

“This policy change would be great for our client. That means she could have been granted adjustment of status by the USCIS and she wouldn’t have had to go through all these problems,” Michael Piston, who represented Kanai, told The Epoch Times.

“It feels very, very good that they’re doing the right thing,” Mario Urizar, a lawyer who represented the man in the other case, told The Epoch Times.

In that case, a Brazilian national overstayed a tourist visa and was ordered deported in 1994. He left the United States in 2000.

Two years later, the man re-entered, even though the 10 years had not elapsed. When he went to adjust his status later, in 2016, authorities noted he violated the law and thus remained inadmissible.

U.S. District Judge Kevin McNulty, an Obama appointee, ruled that the law “is silent” on the time after 10 years elapses. He said imposing what amounted to a lifetime ban from the United States was wrong.

As Border Crossings Surge, Biden Admin Hiding Data on Illegal Alien Deaths

By Charlotte Cuthbertson
July 19, 2022 Updated: July 19, 2022

Border apprehensions recently topped 1.7 million, with three months of the fiscal year remaining. At the same time, the Biden administration has broken a long-standing policy of publicly releasing the number of illegal immigrants who die while crossing into the United States, or soon after.

The Rio Grande Valley in Texas and the Tucson Sector in Arizona have traditionally been the most deadly border sectors, as the river and the summer heat claim the most lives, and smugglers leave injured and sick aliens to die.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published on its website the number of migrant deaths along the southern border from fiscal 1998 to fiscal 2020, but stopped once the Biden administration took over the agency.

Over the course of three months, The Epoch Times made multiple requests to CBP for the missing data from fiscal years 2021 and 2022 to date. But CBP, to date, has declined to provide the information.

Previous CBP data show 247 illegal immigrants died near the border during fiscal 2020, while 300 died in fiscal 2019.

This June, according to unpublished CBP data obtained by The Epoch Times, 111 illegal immigrants died while crossing into the country, or soon after. An additional 53 died in a tractor-trailer unit outside San Antonio.

The highest number of deaths on CBP’s record was 492 people in fiscal year 2005. In the same year, Border Patrol apprehended about 1.2 million illegal immigrants.

The historical CBP data include a footnote indicating that the “data may be subject to change based on new discoveries of remains and possible dates of death as determined by a medical examiner.”

Not all migrant deaths are counted in the CBP data, as Border Patrol agents aren’t always involved in the discovery. Sheriff’s offices have their own tally of bodies discovered by ranchers, hunters, or others.

Brooks County in Texas accounts for many border-related deaths, and sheriff’s deputy Don White of Remote Wildlands Search and Recovery often finds the bodies. The illegal immigrants traveling through Brooks County have evaded law enforcement at the border and are walking on ranchland 70 miles farther north to skirt the Border Patrol checkpoint on Highway 281.

So far this year, White has recovered 64 bodies and is set to break last year’s record of 119 recovered from the brush and 11 from nonpursuit traffic situations. In comparison, 34 bodies were found in 2020.

“A video has surfaced of two men supporting a third man. The third is environmentally stressed, and is not doing well,” White posted on Facebook on June 19. “The two men supporting him are cleaning out his pockets, and putting his personal items in their pockets. Then they walk him off the trail and lay him in the brush. Cruel, if found, the young man will not have an ID.”

He shares another story of a woman who was “stressed and lost.” White searched for the woman at a GPS location she had sent to her parents, but she had moved.

“She sent a new GPS location to her husband in Amarillo. He didn’t want authorities to be involved, so he drove down to get her. She was where the GPS he had said she was. Deceased,” White posted on Facebook on June 12.

“If he would have thought of her life first and called it in, the outcome would have been different. Shaping up to be a savage summer.”

In Arizona’s remote desert areas, the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner (OME) works with nonprofit group Humane Borders to document illegal immigrant deaths.

So far this fiscal year, with three months remaining, the Tucson sector has recovered 128 bodies.

“Since January of 1990, over 3,600 undocumented migrants have died within the Pima County OME jurisdiction,” Humane Borders states on its website.

“And in any case, many remains will never be found or reported.”

The Pima County OME recorded the highest number of body recoveries (226) in fiscal year 2021, according to its annual report.

A Government Accountability Office report issued in April said CBP hasn’t “collected and recorded, or reported to Congress, complete data on migrant deaths or disclosed limitations with the data it has reported.”

The report evaluated the Missing Migrant Program implemented by Border Patrol in June 2017 “to help rescue migrants in distress and reduce migrant deaths along the southwest border.”

The program focuses on an area consisting of 45 counties on or near the nearly 2,000-mile international border with Mexico.

As of February this year, Border Patrol had placed 165 rescue beacons and more than 2,500 “911” placards along the southwest border, the report stated.

NYC, DC mayors complain about illegal immigrants bused from TX, AZ

July 19, 2022 Liz George

On Sunday, Washington, D.C.’s Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser admitted that the capital city is overwhelmed by an influx of illegal immigrants who are being bused in from the U.S.-Mexico border. New York City’s Democrat Mayor Eric Adams later echoed Bowser’s frustrations. Texas and Arizona started busing illegal immigrants to D.C. earlier this year in an effort to alleviate the strain border communities are feeling due to the mass influx of migrants across the Southern border.

During an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Bowser said the influx of illegal immigrants is “a very significant issue” and suggested the illegal immigrants are being “tricked” into traveling to D.C.

“Well, this is a very significant issue. We have for sure called on the federal government to work across state lines to prevent people from really being tricked into getting on buses. We think they’re largely asylum seekers who are going to final destinations that are not Washington, D.C.,” Bowser said. “I worked with the White House to make sure that FEMA provided a grant to a local organization that is providing services to folks.”

“I fear that they’re being tricked into nationwide bus trips when their final destinations are places all over the United States of America,” she added.

Bowser called on the Biden administration to implement a “coordinated federal response” to handle the illegal immigrants pouring into the U.S.

“Local taxpayers are not picking up the tab. They should not pick up the tab. We really need a coordinated federal response. We know that it’s done for refugees who come to the states from all points of the world and the same has to be done in the situation,” Bowser said.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, also called for federal assistance to help handle the arrival of so-called “asylum seekers.”

“Currently, New York City is experiencing a marked increase in the number of asylum seekers who are arriving from Latin America and other regions. In some instances, families are arriving on buses sent by the Texas and Arizona governments, while in other cases, it appears that individuals are being sent by the federal government,” Adams said in a statement, ABC 7 reported.

“In order to both meet the legal mandate as a right-to-shelter city and provide high-quality shelter and services for those who enter our system, New York City needs additional federal resources immediately.”

In April, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott vowed to keep busing illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C.

“We will continue the busing process every single day for the reason that I think you mentioned earlier on, and that is the Biden administration has been dumping off these migrants by the hundreds in local communities that do not have the ability to take care of or deal with these migrants that are being dropped off,” Abbott said during an appearance on Fox News.

“If Biden will not come to the border, we’re sending the border to Biden and his administration so that they can begin to grapple with the challenges that we’re dealing with,” he said, adding, “But also, we will be looking for other locations like Delaware, Biden’s home state. … The people in Delaware are going to see what the people in Texas are having to grapple with.”

The Biden administration has already broken last year’s record of illegal immigrant apprehensions, reaching 1,746,119 with three months still to go in FY22, U.S. Customs and Border Protection data revealed.
