Night Goggles Outdoor Systems RNVG Photonis 4G ECHO White Phosphor Bino

The NGI/RNVG (Rugged Night Vision Goggle) is designed as the most rugged night vision goggle available. While most NVG’s are built with molded polymer housings, the RNVG features a 7075 aluminum chassis for unsurpassed rigidity and structural strength. All articulation points have been beefed up to increase impact resistance, giving users one tough goggle. Designed and machined at AB NightVision, and finished/assembled at Night Goggles Inc., the Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle is ready to face the toughest customers and harshest environments!

Traditionally, the weakest point in a night vision goggle is the joint between the optic pods and the bridge. This point accounts for the majority of catastrophic breakage when a NVG is dropped or hit. Part of this reason is that these joints are either polymer on polymer or metal on polymer interfaces. While there are some seriously impact resistant polymers out there, it’s hard to beat aluminum for strength to weight ratios. Both the optic pods and bridge in the RNVG are machined from solid billet 7075 (a material that is 36% stronger than most common steel), to give end users the strongest NVG on the market (not to mention a little piece of mind). Careful design and advanced machining keep the weight down to 20 oz. with a battery installed.

The RNVG eliminates exposed wires – something commonly found in ANVIS-style night vision goggles. As the optic pods traverse during interpupilary adjustment, they ride across an electrical contact strip. This provides much increased weather/element resistance and reduces a traditional failure point. IP adjustment is accomplished with by turning dual knobs on either side of the bridge; the same as any traditional ANVIS goggle.

The RNVG utilizes either a single AA or CR123 battery, and comes with an auxiliary power connector for use with ANVIS-style auxiliary battery packs such as the USGI Low Profile Battery Pack or AB Night Vision Ground Optimized Battery Pack.

Night Goggles Inc. assembles the RNVG with milspec PVS-14 eyepieces and objective lenses. These battle proven, familiar parts add to the considerable strength of the system. Controls are simple. If you are familiar with a PVS-14, you will be right at home with the RNVG. A standard PVS-14 power knob is located on the front of the bridge. It features on/off controls, and active IR illuminator mode. Just like a 14, simply pull the knob out and twist it all the way to turn on the built-in infrared illuminator. The RNVG features a dovetail mount interface.

The Photonis 4G Hybrid Photocathode uses the same technological infrastructure as Generation 2 image intensifier tubes making them a Gen 2+ tube, however, Photonis has pushed the boundaries of the Gen 2 architecture to produce some of the very best tubes on the market for the hunter, sportsman, and enthusiast at a significantly lower cost than Gen 3 image intensifiers. The 4G ECHO tubes used in the NGI/RNVG are commercial production units based on the 4G INTENS image intensifier used by many foreign allied military and law enforcement organizations due to export restrictions on Gen 3 image intensifiers*.

The Photonis 4G ECHO is available in P45 (White) Phosphor**, and provides excellent performance in high (50%+ illum) and mixed light conditions, however will need more supplemental IR illumination than Gen 3 tubes in extremely dark conditions, and will begin to lose resolution in low light often needed to positively individuals, weapons, and other objects more quickly than Gen 3 tubes. This makes them less suited to law enforcement and military applications where fine detail resolution and PID is mission critical compared to Gen 3 units. However, for hunters, sportsman, and enthusiasts who need to be able to see in the dark for navigation, movement, general identification, visual augmentation, and range work, they are an excellent and cost-effective option***.

4G ECHO tubes will not have the same performance as 4G INTENS units or Gen 3 image intensifiers intended for military and LE applications, and while the 4G ECHO does display some Out Off Band (OOB) sensitivity to high powered systems, they do not have sufficient sensitivity for operational use with lower powered OOB devices such as individual weapon aiming lasers and marking lights

***4G ECHO tubes may have a maximum of 2 spots in Zone 2, or 3

Night Goggles, Inc. Limited Lifetime Warranty

Night Goggles, Inc. warrants this product for the lifetime of the product and guarantees this product to be free from manufacturing defects in material and workmanship under normal use, and transferable by the owner assuming that the product otherwise still falls within the scope of this warranty. In the event that a defect covered by this warranty occurs TNVC, Inc. or Night Goggles, Inc., at its discretion, will either repair or replace the product. Such action on the part of TNVC, Inc. or Night Goggles, Inc. shall be the full extent of the company’s liability, and the customer’s sole and exclusive remedy. This warranty applies to all TNV and NGI-branded Night Vision Device housing systems, and furthermore warrants that all Image Intensifier Tubes will be free from manufacturing defects in material and workmanship under normal use for a period of 10 years after the original date of purchase. This warranty does not cover:

Products that were used in other than normal and customary manner.
Products that were misused.
Products that were altered, modified, or repaired by the customer or a party other than TNVC, Inc.
Products that were discontinued by the manufacturer and either parts or replacement units are not available due to reasons beyond the control of TNVC, Inc.
Damage, defects, or failures resulting from use that would be construed by any reasonable person as normal and expected “wear and tear.”
TNVC, Inc. shall not be responsible for any defects or damage that in the company’s opinion, resulted from the mishandling, abuse, misuse, improper storage, or improper operation, including use in conjunction with equipment which is electrically or mechanically incompatible with or of inferior quality to the product, as well as failure to maintain the environmental conditions specified by the manufacturer. This includes using rechargeable batteries, storing the product with batteries installed, or battery compartment corrosion due to faulty battery. Warranty claims falling outside of the scope of these written warranty terms may incur repair, labor, and shipping fees charged to the customer.

Customer is hereby notified that operation of the equipment during daylight or under excessive light conditions may permanently damage the image intensifier tube. While all TNV and NGI systems are auto-gated, they are not able to withstand exposure to constant light including, but not limited to, light sources, weapon sights, laser radiation. Auto-gated Image Intensifier Tubes are designed to stand up to nighttime battlefield light conditions, but prolonged exposure to any light source will still cause damage.

No other warranties except for this one apply to this product, including, but not limited to written, oral, statutory, expressed or implied, including any implied warranty or merchantability or fitness for particular purpose, shall apply to this product.
