Today I bought the new Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50. They gave me a spare battery and a Pulsar gadget (a portable container for the hunter ... where he can put water or tea or coffee or a drink ...)

Tonight I have already taken a couple of photos of the same roof with antennas (about 290 yards) that I had photographed last year with the Pulsar Accolade XP50 lrf.

Exaggerated thermal sensitivity ... You have to play a lot with adjusting the contrast and brightness .... In particular ... you have to decrease the contrast and increase the brightness ... because the image tends to be too contrasty and too saturated. .. It is not easy ... you have to do other tests .... The focus ring is very hard ... I imagine that in the cold it will be a problem to rotate it gently without abrupt rotations. In my opinion the nylon ring that you called (it seems to me ..) cat tail is really essential.....
... obviously this is only a very first impression ... the sequential menu is quite easy. The magnification adjustment is fantastic because with the left wheel it can be varied continuously ....
I would have loved to send this fantastic device to Korey or to SkyPup so that they could test it ... but Korey told me that it is practically impossible to ship , back and forth from Italy to the USA, these thermal devices .... there are too many restrictions that make it difficult and dangerous ... I am just an incompetent old amateur ... but you are real professional night hunters .. . and surely you would know how to use it in the best way ....

I have to buy a Throw lever to facilitate the rotation of the focus ring of the Pulsar Thermion 2 XP50 (quite hard and difficult to rotate ...). But I don't know which one to choose ... There are two models: Thermion Ridge style (raised) or Thermion Dip style (depressed)? I measured the diameter of the focus ring ... it's about 65mm.

Can you help me choose?

It looks like either one should work Ernest. I have the twist knob style. I only needed to adjust mine once last winter hunting 5 or 6 nights a week from October to late February. It gradually slid a little. They sure do turn hard.

Obviously I haven't mounted it on the rifle yet. To make some tests, I took several photos from the fifth floor of the house by the sea. The first series with 2X 4X 8X 16X sequence frames a sea dam at about 700 yards, white hot mode ...

Thanks SkyPup, as you well know, I'm just an amateur. I will have to do more tests ... because the thermal sensitivity is very high and this is not good in these hot nights. You have to decrease the contrast level a lot in order not to have images only in black and white without any intermediate shades of gray ... To better observe the details and for the PID of the targets, a small amount of gray is always necessary. Now the problem of 30mm rings has also arisen ... I absolutely do not want to crawl or mark the device tube. Maybe there are felt pads to be placed between the rings and the tube itself? Last thing ... Two 30mm Leupold semi-quick release steel rings could be fine to mount the scope on the Picatinny rail? But do I have to buy 2 straight rings, or one must have the cantilever shape, to move the telescope back so that I can more easily bring the eye closer to the rubber bellows of the eyepiece?

One thing is certain ... Kirsch and Skinney certainly have far fewer installation problems than I do. Their Bering SH and Infiray Rico MKII (or RH50 ...) thermal riflescopes attach quickly and easily to any Picatinny or Weaver rail.

Ernest, just mount your Thermion like you would a normal rifle scope. Get the Burris tall 30mm rings with the plastic inserts and you will be good to go. Don't over think it...just mount it as you would any other rifle scope. The leupold quick release rings do not have any type of protective inserts, so you might get some faint ring marks on the Thermion, but not anything worse than any other rifle scope.

A new version of the Vision 2 Stream App is available. I recommend downloading the new software for the Thermion 2 XP50 and also for the Thermion 1 XP50.

With this update, when you open the video image on your tablet or smartfone, the digital zoom, brightness and contrast controls have moved to the left on small icons that are difficult to distinguish ... In truth, dear friends American night hunters who own thermal riflescope Pulsar, (IMO) before the controls on the right were much more immediate and smoother and easier to operate .... As for the remote controls with the cell phone of the thermal riflescope, I don't like this update.
